Retired from IT, thank God! Into photography, writing, fountain pens and choral singing. Fighting and losing the eternal battle against typos. Ugly old married dude who is not looking to get laid. At the age where I get all the aches and pains, but none of the senior's discounts. I boost a lot. Avatar is a black and white photograph of an at best nondescript older guy. #Photography #Writing #BlackAndWhite #Toronto

A former co-worker has reached out; she is with a start-up (virtual), and they are looking for tech assistance: BYOD security and IT (in the digital health space). Let me know if interested and I will see about putting you in touch.I am basically retired at this point, so it's not something I am going to pursue.

Because of the February 29 reset, spring arrives early this year, at precisely 11:06 pm Eastern Daylight Time today, March 19.

Jgmeadows,

@jd But it's cold in Toronto today! I blame Trudeai! /s

A lovely way to spend part of the morning. #lp

My definition of a 21st century politician: somone who, if he heard that the idea of skewering bablies was suddenly popuar with voters, would on the street with a pitchfork in 60 seconds. #politics

Jgmeadows,

@Snowshadow Not just the right; looking at Ontario Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie trying to stake out a position as guardian of suburban car-cetric priviledge.

My @torontostar column: Toronto council will vote to hike parking ticket fines this week. It’ll have some drivers fuming, but it’s the right move.

It’s time to start valuing the use of our streets — they can be a lot more than cheap car storage. https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/toronto-parking-fines-may-shortly-skyrocket-cant-happen-too-soon-there-are-better-uses-for/article_eab87024-e52e-11ee-81e7-d368480c7a44.html

Jgmeadows,

@GraphicMatt @torontostar The fine for not paying for parking should be the same as that for fare evasion on the TTC.

"Ax the Tax" vs. "Pierre Doesn't Care." Whoever sells rhyming dictionaries to Canadian political parties must be raking it in these days! #cdnpoli

Jgmeadows,

@pinhman @Snowshadow And of course PP was the first to attack Liberals for doing the same thing. Not a surprise; as a politician, hypocrisy is assumed.

Jgmeadows,

@jd a great start!

"Physicians interviewed in the report and those interviewed separately by NPR agreed that women's health and their lives were being put at risk because of the abortion ban, especially Black and low-income women."

There is a major report about the change in pregnancy care (post abortion ban) in Louisiana that NPR was given early access to and it's pretty disturbing (it was the first news segment I was really awake for this morning).

Jgmeadows,

@SRLevine If you ask the GOP, black people dying because of the abortion ban is not a bug; it's a feature.

How will the defend Trump’s latest rhetoric that said if American Jews vote for Democrats, “They hate their religion”, and “Hate Israel”. Just when you think Trump can’t go any lower, he says 💩 like this!

Jgmeadows,

@copter_chief They will ignore Trump's hateful words and turn every question they get about Trump into anti-Biden talking points. And most of the media will let them get away with it.

@grivettcarnac Any real plan to address cliamte change must involve voters making lifestyle changes, and no party wants to be honest about that.

One of the scary things about #PierrePoilievre is that his political posture all bolls down to attacking the enemy, Trudeau. When he defeats Trudeau, he will need new enemies to focus his venom (and that of his base) on. Otherwise the whole ediface comes tumbling down. Who will the mortal enemy be? How dangerous will it be to not be a straight white climate change denier?

    Jgmeadows,

Pierre Poilievre’s fantasy vision for the future offers ‘common sense’ solutions unhinged from the real world

When Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre spoke in Halifax on Sunday, he too didn’t mention SaltWire, the workers, the loss to communities, or the importance of reporting to democracy. Instead, he attacked what’s left of the news media.

    Jgmeadows,

Two great things about secondhand book stores:

    1. When you buy a physical book it stays yours.
    2. The odds are higher that it wasn’t vomited out by an AI algorithm.

@samnabi The parties are falling over themselves to tell the entitled masses that no societal or personal changes will be required in the face of impending climate change. The parties are all terrified of the suburban-dwelling F-150/SUV crowd and don't dare confront them with reality. #onpoli

The children who pulled the trigger were most often teenagers ages 14-17 or children ages 5 & under, according to Everytown’s data. Roughly half of the incidents involved children who shot themselves. In the other half, someone else was injured or killed — usually another child.”

🇺🇸 This also applies to 🇨🇦 because our conservatives have become US MAGAs

    I often hear people say,

"We need to listen to conservatives because we have become too divided, and we need to reconcile our differences-compromise."

    I say,
"How do you reconcile your differences, or compromise with a group of people who have become so extreme that they literally want to segregate and even eliminate an entire segment of the population? How do you compromise with a fascist?"

    #Conservatives #Politics

    Jgmeadows,

@Snowshadow Sadly so true! I think the focus needs to be on reenergizing the apathetic middle (like the majority who didn’t vote in the last Ontario provincial election). Spending effort on the far right is a waste of time and energy right now.

    Jgmeadows, (edited )

@Snowshadow And we need to look for consensus. There won’t always be perfect agreement on everything. Sadly too many progressives are too busy pointing the finger of judgement and conducting doctrinal purity tests, and driving moderates (a word that has become a slur) back to apathy or into the welcoming arms of the right.
