Just give Beyoncé all the awards now. "Cowboy Carter" is transcendent.

This is a very important new playlist involving our most underrated guitar chord.

The mighty C/G.

@hotdogsladies @gruber Pretty soon you’re going to be driving him to the airport.

8of12,

@hotdogsladies @gruber I always hear Jerry say “Who is this?” when I answer the phone.

We need a word for the EV owner that leaves their car in an available charging spot after they are done charging. It’s not exactly an Energy Vampire…

How stupid would one have to be to trust him with your money? (Or your life?)

“Faith and Family” vs Democracy

On the normalization of Mike Johnson, the media’s inclination to accommodate power, and the perpetuation of “real American” extremism.

A thread, based on my new Democracy Americana piece: 1/

https://thomaszimmer.substack.com/p/faith-and-family-vs-democracy

8of12,

@tzimmer_history This is an essential factor that most media producers and consumers do not understand.

No matter how much you try to appease this bad faith criticism, Washington Post and New York Times (among others), the American right is never going to agree you're objective or love you. It is a campaign to discredit your media model entirely.

Is it just me of have unsolicited marketing emails really ramped up in the last year? I don't mean spam specifically, just like promo emails from places that I had to give my e-mail address to for this or that reason.

It used to feel manageable but lately I feel like I can't keep up with the amount of useless marketing garbage from web sites that I DO have some business with, but don't need to hear from.

8of12,

@rodhilton And only half of those emails are thirsty emails from The New York Times.

“And you people on Mastodon, you're all mastonauts on... some kind of tar trek?”

8of12,

@Sonikku @scrivolical @lisamelton I give a golf clap every time the say the name of the movie in the movie.

TNG ere Jean-Luc Picard gives his best golf clap.

MAS*H S10 E1&2 ‘That’s Show Biz Parts 1 & 2 - A traveling USO troupe gets stranded at the 4077 and puts on a show for the wounded.

This ep is filled w/ great moments but my favorite is when one of the performers makes Charles eat classical crow after he insults her accordion playing.

Little did he know that Amanda McBroom not only played classical piano but was also a formidable JAG who ruled Data was ultimately not the property of Starfleet on #StarTrek The Next Generation! Poor Charles.

Amanda McBroom in her role as performer Ellie Carlyle on MASH
Amanda McBroom as Captain Phillipa Louvois in the Star Trek: The Next Generation second season episode "The Measure Of A Man".

8of12,

@gedeonm David Ogden Stiers (Charles) was also in an episode of TNG. Did M.A.S.H. happen on the holodeck?

I have this vision of hell: Thomas finally leaves in shame and then some combination of Feinstein, Sinema, or Manchin completely fuck up the opportunity that creates.

Judicial activist directed fees to Clarence Thomas’s wife, urged ‘no mention of Ginni’ https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2023/05/04/leonard-leo-clarence-ginni-thomas-conway/

8of12,

@jeffjarvis The divergence from this vision of hell is that the Thomases clearly have no shame. Clarence isn’t going anywhere because he doesn’t believe he’s done anything wrong.

"Backlash"? No, Washington Post. Bigotry. Call it what it is.
Trans, nonbinary star of YouTube kids show Jules Hoffman faces backlash https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/04/23/jules-hoffman-msrachel-controversy/

8of12,

@jeffjarvis “Backlash” is intended to legitimize the bigotry and is a terrible example of false equivalency.
