The worst thing about the air being filled with smoke from distant wildfires is not the air quality. It's the persistent notion that maybe the fires aren't that far away, and might just appear over the hill any minute, and the little animal voice in my head screaming "RUN RUN RUN!!!"
It’s been another busy week, but highlights including some parts of the #UVM campus off my normal routes. One spot rewarded me with this vista of #Burlington and #LakeChamplain. I love these everyday reminders of this amazing watershed we are working to protect. #52LakeChamplain#Vermont
Look what my awesome wife did - organized the Middlebury Pride celebration for the second year in a row. She's the first person to bring Pride celebrations to Middlebury, can you believe it? So proud of her.
We removed the dinette that was here, a and put in an inexpensive desk and chair combo for my office, much like what we did in our winter rig. I'll probably end up replacing the chair soon, but the desk is pretty good.
A monitor, stand, and a few other things are coming this week, which will make this a lot more comfortable. Either way, this is already a big step up from sitting at the dinette in the travel camper!
Welp, we just bought a third camper. It will remain on our seasonal lot in Vermont. It's a 2014, 32' with a slide. It will be a better fit for the summer months when we are not traveling so much.
We now have a big summer camper in VT, a huge Winter camper in TX, and a small travel camper for the shoulder seasons when we tend to do most of our travel.
A little something for our gracious instance host @ai6yr - they keep Robert Frost’s beekeeping tradition alive at his 1769 stone farmhouse in South Shaftsbury, Vermont. #robertfrost#vermont#bees
UVermont just "launched an #OpenAccess academic press…Fully funded by the university and overseen by UVM #Libraries, the UVM Press operates under a “diamond open access model” – meaning that authors pay no fees to publish with the press, and readers pay no fees to access the press's published materials."
A University of Vermont startup aims to revolutionize solar power. The company, called Solaflect, has developed a new type of solar tracker that can produce more energy and cost less than conventional panels. Solaflect hopes to make solar power more accessible and affordable.
Two loops at Shelburne Pond today with surprisingly different feels. I didn’t think the loop away from the shore would be very interesting, but it had hemlocks, nice limestone/marble outcrops and cliffs. Very enjoyable. #52hikes#11#Vermont#Shelburne#hiking#FamilyHikes
Now THIS is the important data we’ve all been seeking! VTDigger made a map of the 400 locations around #Vermont that sell creamees! (probably most often known as “soft serve” ice cream to those outside our state. 😀)
