@Em0nM4stodon I shifted internal company comms (and that of family members) to #Signal for the most part. I do a lot of development around end-to-end secure communications, and am a strong believer in this sentiment.
To paraphrase Edward Snowden, saying you don’t care about #privacy because you have nothing to hide is like saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.
In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how to use Signal, learn how to use the Signal messaging app to send secure and private messages to your friends and family.
lately I have been experiencing a lot of lag when opening #Signal Desktop. This is when opening it after 3 days (i.e when it tried to load messages for the past 3 days). I use signal, but I have not used it much this past few days (perhaps in total 50 text messages and one voice), and yet it took some minutes for it to load things. I have seen this issue on two computers just during the past 4 days.

I deleted #facebook in 2015, but #whatsapp was harder, because in my country (Germany) it is widely used and I had to convince people to use the alternative #signal
Surprisingly all my closest friends could live with two instant messenger apps, even if they are pretty conservative and any change in their life is considered as an attack. But I lost contact with a few people, because of that.
So, yeah, I'm still on #Windows. And I think I will stay. I unchecked any telemetry that I could. I use #Brave, with extensions. I use #Adguard#VPN I use #Signal with family. I do what I can for #privacy and #security
I must say that Windows as a desktop is full of little things that make life easier. I even like it more than MacOS. Linux is great, but I often felt that GNOME or any other desktop was holding with gaffer tape. No tomatoes please. 🍅😎
I've composed an email to my dad and siblings proposing that we start using #Signal for group messages and video calls. I have wanted to switch to an #Android phone for a while now, but #iMessage and #FaceTime are some of the last big hurdles to me ditching #iPhone for good. I haven't sent the email yet...I don't know why I'm so worried about it. I guess I just hate to be "that guy" who doesn't want to do what everyone else is doing and cause them inconvenience.
Why am I not allowed to transfer #Signal chat history to my laptop?
What happens if I lose my phone? Does all chat history get lost forever?
Why is it up to Signal, not me, whether I want to copy chat history over to my laptop? "For security reasons, chat history isn't transferred to new linked devices"; shouldn't I get to choose that? Why does Signal make this choice for me?
I really need to find a new #SMS app for #Android. I used to use #Signal, and sure, it didn't mean any better security or #privacy for the normal messages, but at least everything was together, and the layout was quite nice.
I've just been using the built-in Messages app for a while now, and it sucks. I don't like the layout at all, or the constant pop-ups asking me if I want to sign away my privacy to enable some sort of live chat feature (I already said no, damn it!).
So, what's everyone using? I'd especially appreciate recs from #blind and #VisuallyImpaired folks, or something that can be gotten on #FDroid. #AskFedi#AskMastodon
I suspect that the eventual cross-platform solution to the incompatibility between #iMessage and #RCS in the #USA will just be everyone downloading an app like #Telegram (which is a honeypot) or #Signal, much how everyone uses #Whatsapp internationally.
Which I am sure that neither #Apple nor #Google wants.
It is no secret that Telegram has long captured the leadership among messengers in Ukraine, which are used as a source for prompt news. But this is not exclusively a Ukrainian or Russian trend — the share of users of this network abroad is also growing.
