I just picked up the new #book by #LauraDern and #DianeLadd—Honey, Baby, Mine—so I felt it was my duty to post this deliciously over-the-top scene with them in Wild at Heart:
The #ILM website has a neat story about #VFX Supervisor and genius Bill George, in honor of the Return of the Jedi 40th anniversary. Includes many awesome photos of Bill and his modelmaking and miniature work #movies#StarWars#ReturnOfTheJedi
For all my #cinematic peeps out there, let's get a thread going with stills from your Letterboxd top 4 movies. (Or if you don't have a #Letterboxd account, just throw out a still from each of your four favorite movies.)
Me? I went with:
Jaws
Night of the Living Dead
Monsieur Hulot's Holiday
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
And while we're at it, if you're down with sharing it, throw out your Letterboxd handle while you're at it. I'm there as optiMSTie!

Hello! 👋🏻 My name is Rich and I’m horror novel/film junkie. Most of my posts involve spooky books and movies. You’ll also get some occasional Hawaii stuff and general all around nerdery.
Good morning #fediverse! A new episode of #MossbacksNW just dropped! Do you love a good film set in our fair city of #Seattle? This episode takes a trip down memory lane to relive some of the grittiest and most romantic films to take place in the Emerald City.
Fucked up family levels up to entire new levels of dysfunction thanks to some nuts.
Began practicing "Toni Collette Faces". Didn't think so.
Fills you with dread before anything outwardly horrific occurs because you know there's more things wrong with this family than you'd ever want to know.
My favorite #movie of 2018.
The very first memory that I can recall is watching Star Wars: A New Hope. That opening scene with the large ship being chased by a larger ship implanted a love for science fiction that has remained with me for the rest of my life.
As much as I love the original Star Wars Trilogy:
A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
All of those films were supplanted by Rogue One, which I was hooked on based upon the second trailer.
What I enjoyed most about Rogue One was the fact it was an actual war movie instead of a political family movie (which is what most Star Wars films are).
There were also no official Jedi in the movie, & you really witnessed a ferocious side of Darth Vader that was (in hindsight) strangely absent in the original trilogy.
Also, you got a sense that the stakes were ultimately higher in this film, & the theme was much simpler: sacrificing for a better future.
There's no point in making a movie with this premise if you aren't going to cross a few particular lines, and this movie crosses exactly those lines but not the ones that you kinda had a hunch they won't cross - you know exactly who is walking away from this before the book of the dead is even opened.
We are seriously lacking new live-action TV series and movies related to isekai (parallel world).
I've watched every English title in every listicle I can find through search. :blobbonecry: I'm currently going through the remaining Korean titles I still have in my watchlist.
Parallel world, or isekai, doesn't have to be science fiction, it can be fantasy. I guess it's easier to write time travel stories? While I love time travel―especially if its time travel is complex—parallel world stories are more interesting.
More! :ablobbonebongo:
PS When it comes to books, we have plenty. But there are times when I just want watch.
Happy #StarWarsDay! My perennial anecdote: I saw Star Wars with the poet #AllenGinsberg when it opened in Boulder in 1977. When the crawl went up the screen ("A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away..."), Allen sighed, "Thank God - I don't have to worry about it!" #poetry#movies
Honestly, the opening sequence of Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is possibly the best character introduction sequence, ever. We learn everything about the dynamic of these two characters in the way they greet their guest.
Marvel Studios' first solo film, "Iron Man," came out 15 years ago today. It went on to gross $585 million and birthed the behemoth MCU. But at the time, many insiders thought it would flop. Here's a look at how the armor-clad superhero made it to the big screen.
So, yesterday, I watched Star Wars ep4 A New Hope. Now I have committed to watching all the films.
Don't judge me, I watch them in release order, not chronological order. Yes, they still make sense. No I won't watch them any other way.
If I had to watch ep1 first, I would never get to see them all, due to the horrible, unbelievable Jar Jar Binks. I can't stand it, but slotted in the middle I can get through it.
