is live!

Use arcane technology to find your favourite artist and explore their related artists. Watch the pretty colours. Listen to the music. Race your friends from Napalm Death to Britney Spears. Increase the web size and gasp as the artists jiggle into each other. Or simplify your life by exploring a web size of 0.

Really loving the new artist pages on , finding out which tracks are the most popular and also discovering fellow listeners. Very much reminds me of and the community that built up around that. I know people still scrobble to the latter, though it feels it has stagnated, whilst ListenBrainz continues to evolve as @metabrainz actively adds new features.

I had to pause my music to write this post, because anything with lyrics pulls me into the song and out of what I'm working on!

And that's something I've wanted to ask you: when you're trying to focus on work, do you put on music WITH lyrics or WITHOUT lyrics?

BONUS: Post your favorite "focus" tracks or albums here and tag us. We're making playlists 🎧

@thunderbird you can check my stats (courtesy of @metabrainz ).

As you can see, mostly electronic and instrumental but with some metal and punk when I'm in a coding spree and need an extra oomph.

And the last year I have listened quite a lot to L(oo)ping by and the Orchestre National de Lyon. Instrumental.

Are you interested in music playlists? Come test ListenBrainz Radio! No login required.

Rob has been finessing all kinds of bits and pieces for a long time now, and you should be able to get some pretty complex stuff working in there. Feedback and code contributions very welcome.

Ok so and api are no use to get album covers… noted …

So I guess I’ll have to figure out how to refresh tokens on the spotify api :tiredcat:

Very impressive to read everything that achieved last year. Didn't know about the Art Creator, particularly love the LPs on the floor template, for example here are my most listened to albums for 2023 https://mastodon.social/@metabrainz/111999735197519468

The refresh is out now! We have re-run all the statistics for YIM 2023.

This means that anyone who updated their listen links, genre tags, and so on, will now see these changes reflected in their YIM page. We have also generated new YIM’s for anyone who recently imported listens from 2023.

Find it in your Explore page:

So behind with a lot of stuff because I've been busy with adding new artists, information, tracking official accounts, and fixing things over at .

MusicBrainz is a database for anything related to . Artists, labels, tracks, albums, groups/bands, stage names, even instruments, and roles.

The database of MusicBrainz is actually used by a lot of other websites, one good example is the music tracker and MusicBrainz sister project .

If you love to help the community, go check it out!

Or, if you've been building databases, but the info is behind non-open, non-sharing licenses, why not give your time and effort to a Public Domain database? Help the community, and tell your employer to use their database instead!

(Not a paid endorsement, I just love contributing to such projects.)

music player has the best support for musicbrainz and listenbrainz that i've found. some stuff still wouldn't read… it turns out they were ALAC files that are only somewhat compatible with ID3v2.4. songs with multiple artists would vanish. transcoded to flac, sorted.
