US gives #Saudis green light to try to revive peace deal with #Houthis (this headline! Why is it up to the US? Supposedly because KSA agrees with the US to normalize with ISR. But KSA doesn’t …) @saudi@yemen
#FarhanHaq, a #UN spokesperson, said the new smaller numbers reflected those bodies which had been fully identified. The bigger figures included corpses for whom identification has so far not been completed.

One clear sign of how ignorant and immature the college protesters are is how they all don't seem to want to be held accountable for the crimes they committed.
I wish that our U.S. campuses would at least still assign students to read MLK's Letter from a Birmingham jail, and Thoreau's essay on Civil Disobedience.
I think these protesters have failed the guidelines of: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self-purification; and effective direct action.
The only thing we can do is to act based on the high moral principles that were the basis for many Western democracies and the founding principles of the League of Nations and the United Nations from NOW on.
Nations or terrorists organizations that defy these principles must me brought to heel, however.
"Then there’s Netanyahu, whose political career should have ended in disgrace seven months ago when he failed to foresee and prevent the devastating Oct. 7 attack on Israel."
"Netanyahu also faces a probable conviction on corruption charges and even possible jail time if he loses office, not to mention an official inquiry into his pre-war actions that would destroy what remains of his reputation. This is not a man who will act in the higher interests of the nation" - Dyer

Following is a thread of quotes from #TheGlobalJigsaw latest episode on the #IRGC, #Quds force, #Basij militias - and th ideological blueprint for #Iran so called Axis of Resistance. Whole episode here:
The #Houthis are definitely backed by #Iran . We've also seen reports that #IRGC advisers are in #Yemen . But again in terms of the extent to which they take orders or not from Iran is not quite clear.
It quickly gets very complicated because here we're talking about literally dozens of entities. they've entrenched themselves within #Iraqi society. It's a very dangerous situation going forwards where the army does not have the monopoly on the use of force.

A lot of the western navies participating in the naval actions against the Houthis drones/missiles in the Red Sea and pirates from Somalia have been getting their first real combat shakedown and it hasn't always been going well. The French forces seem to be performing admirably and the Indian navy seems ready for gutsy actions, including airdropping troops into the water to conduct naval boarding operations against dozens of armed pirates!
Significant problems were revealed with the Danish frigates, though. Among other things, they're using extremely old ammo for their deck guns and the replacement proximity fuses don't work. They've reportedly been trying to take out comparatively slow moving drones with their deck guns only to have the munition blow up shortly after leaving the barrel. They've had other problems too, with missile and radar systems.
The ship's targeting radar also malfunctioned, apparently severely enough that they were not able to launch missiles for a half hour. That is a half hour of vulnerability in which the ship's primary weapons system (missiles) were down.
It's enough to cause them to leave the theater prematurely, probably on the assumption that there is a realistic chance that they'd not be able to defend the ship...and they fired their defense chief.
While the U.S. is trying to spin its abstention, rather than veto, of the UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza as not representing a shift in policy, it most certainly is.
Of course, this is not the result of some change of heart by the U.S. regime, but rather due to the relentless efforts of innumerable folks around the country to lift up the Palestinian cause, to demand an immediate ceasefire, and to demonstrate the political cost to those in charge of continuing with the status quo.
It is disheartening beyond belief that the notion of opposing genocide should require such mobilization, but such are the fascistic times we live in. And while a victory, it is not time to let up the pressure. Nonetheless, much love to those organizing and mobilizing and acting for Palestinian liberation in whatever ways you are able.
