🚨 Friends, we have an unusual request today - we are putting a call out for unimpressed/grompy faces! 😂 Respond below, and I’ll collect the pix over the week and combine into a delightful mega thread so they’re all together! It will sure to be one to bookmark for gloomy days! 😂❤️
UPDATE: We and our partner shelters are extending our fee-waived #GuineaPig adoptathon for an entire week, now through January 14! The decision follows the discovery of 17 little guinea pigs in a box outside our #CapeCod Adoption Center over the weekend 1/
I had Socks at the vet again today, just for his progress check.
She's happy to continue how we've been going, with syringe feeds every couple of hours. He weighed in at 780g (her scale always weighs him a bit lighter than mine), and she gave him a good check over. His stomach is still soft and fine, his mouth and teeth look ok, his heart sounds great. His breathing was a little quick, but we think it was more to do with the stress of a waiting room full of dogs than anything else because I haven't noticed him breathing quickly otherwise.
So, the plan is to continue with how we're going now and check in again in early January.
In other cavie news.. Pikelet is off to the vet in the morning to be desexed. I've just packed her a little lunchbox with snacks, and I feel like I'm sending her off to her first day of kindy 😆
It's important to have female guinea pigs desexed before they turn about 2 years old, because they start developing ovarian cysts and cancers due to their hormone levels if they don't have litters.

Sadly Porkette Princess Bellatrix crossed the rainbow bridge this evening. HuMum did everything the kind vet told her to but the illness was too much for Bella. The sweet lady passed away peacefully snuggled in HuMum’s arms whilst being told how loved she was.
This is Lemon. She believes she is top #guineapig in our little herd of three. Don’t let that vacant stare fool you; behind those beady eyes lies a mind that is…well, even more vacant. She loves developing the cowlick on the top of her head by shoving things, and is the pig most often seen relaxing outside a hide (the better to spot humans who might be carrying treats). Her motto is: “why run when you can walk?” and she’s got the fat stores to back it up.
