As predicted a month ago, COVID infections are starting to rise in the US. The rise is not great (yet) in most of the nation. (For instance, here in my home state of Wisconsin, we remain near our 12-month lows.) But, this is not the case everywhere--in fact, there are places with very high levels of infections based on wastewater metrics. (1/6)
Definition of utter insanity - Ontario will be cancelling funding of wastewater surveillance for ALL diseases - this as Covid is once again on the rise and H5N1 is lurking as a potential new pandemic
“ governments and policymakers “need to thoroughly investigate underlying causes of persistent excess mortality and evaluate their health crises policies.”
"In his first public testimony since stepping down from [U.S.] government office at the end of 2022, Dr. Anthony Fauci on Monday fended off a variety of attacks from Republican politicians at a fiery hearing called to discuss lessons learned during the pandemic."
NBC News reports: "Fauci has emerged as one of the people most vilified by supporters of former President Donald Trump, with many blaming him for the pandemic based on a wide array of false or misleading claims. Calls to prosecute Fauci for unspecified crimes have become common on the right."

perdent ; ils propagent des maladies... Pour remédier au problème des enfants,
il faut les pucer et les géolocaliser !

un raisonnement juridique bien appliqué aboutit à cette conclusion inéluctable.
Democratic members of the #House select subcommittee on the coronavirus pandemic defended Dr. Anthony #Fauci ahead of Monday's hearing about the #US’ #COVID19#pandemic response, policies & transparency.
The representatives blasted #Republicans’ claims of Fauci’s involvement in starting [for real they had to say this] or covering up the pandemic as a “dangerous” & “cartoonish” narrative.
I try to be very objective and, when possible, directly quote the research I share. Here's an example of the opposite. This guy screams "breaking news" about myocarditis and pericarditis "only" in vaccinated children. What he doesn't share:
STUDY found #COVID19 vaccination reduced hospitalizations by ~40%.
Myocarditis and pericarditis were documented only in the vaccinated groups with rates of 27 and 10 cases PER MILLION after 1st and 2nd doses.
Trial results for longer-lasting Covid vaccines & more news - Next Generation Update 17.
3 sets of trial results: 1 is the first full report of a pancoronavirus vaccine, and it did pretty well, giving developers lots to go on for this ambitious type of vaccine.
18 new preclinical study reports - including another 2 showing intranasal vaccination reduced transmission among animals sharing the same air.
🇫🇷 France: Cases of Covid-19 have been rising in France over the month of May.
Hospitalisations are increasing amid rising cases of the new ‘FLiRT’ variant.
From May 20-26, emergency admissions and hospitalisations for suspected Covid-19 continued to rise “for the sixth week running” SPF said, with 575 compared with 427 the previous week. This represents an increase of 35% across all age groups.
I am seeing a lot of hubbub over a third case of #birdflu in a human in the US.
Just to be clear: Right now, in our "lowest" point of #COVID19 in almost a year, 278 Americans are being infected EVERY MINUTE. Ten percent or more will go on to suffer months or years of Long COVID symptoms. Some will have damaged brains, hearts, and other organs.
We shouldn't lose focus on the immediate and real risks we face of COVID.
🇪🇸 Spain: Covid infections quadruple across Spain despite the fine weather.
Experts blame a highly contagious new strain of coronavirus for the rapid spread in Spain.
Although most of us have half forgotten about the coronavirus, the reality is that SARS-CoV-2 continues to evolve and mutate even now and, as specialists have warned, it’s very much here to stay.
Covid is estimated at 27.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in primary care. In hospitals there are 1.86 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Someone told me that the estimate of #COVID19 infections is wrong because of vaccinations. Let's be very clear: Vaccinations are moderately effective against hospitalization but quickly get ineffective against infection.
Just 22.5% of adults reported having received an updated 2023-24 COVID-19 vaccine since September 14, 2023. Second, the XBB booster effectiveness against infection is just 20.4% after 20 weeks. Risks are greater than most know.
Among non-hospitalized individuals, the increased risk of death was no longer present after the first year of infection, and risk of incident PASC declined over the 3 years but still contributed 9.6 disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) per 1,000 persons in the third year. (1/2)
