A weird thing about the global #Naver #Whale browser is they forgot to include Naver search in the search engine selection. ^^ It doesn't have to be the default, but at least include it. ^~

Scientists tracked a young #whale's journey before he vanished. What they learned could help save his species.

#Bishop’s story, from birth to presumed death, shows the extreme danger facing right #whales, which could be extinct in 3 decades if they continue to disappear at the present rate. Bishop’s species is not doomed to #extinction …but time is running out.

The delay has frustrated advocates, who say more urgency is required. “As we watch this species go extinct one by one, the solution sits idle in the hands of the administration,” said Kathleen Collins, a snr marine campaign manager at the Intl Fund for .

Scientists are using AI to decode whale talk.
“Sperm whale vocalisations are more expressive and structured than previously believed, and built from a repertoire comprising nearly an order of magnitude more distinguishable codas. These results show context-sensitive and combinatorial vocalisation can appear in organisms with divergent evolutionary lineage and vocal apparatus.”

(1/2) of a Blue - The heart of a blue whale is indeed massive. It weighs about 400 pounds, which is about the weight of a small piano. The heart is approximately 5 feet (152.4 cm) long, 4 feet (121.92 cm) wide, and 5 feet (152.4 cm) tall...

The tail of a whale - one of two humpback whales that we came across whilst cruising in our Zodiac at Meusnier point around the Antarctica peninsular. They were in a feeding frenzy having come across a krilling field. Apparently the tails have fingerprint like capability enabling them to be uniquely identified.😍 😎 😜

Faroe: END THIS CRUEL HUNT 🐬

Every summer, the Faroe Islands’ beaches are soaked with and blood as hundreds of these majestic creatures are needlessly slaughtered.

Fishers in boats circle the whales and dolphins, driving them into shallow waters before killing them with knives.

The government says it is an Indigenous tradition that feeds families on the islands, but only a handful of locals consume whale and dolphin meat yet they kill over 1000 a year.

I painted an Eocetus schweinfurthi the other day. It's odd that there weren't any proper life reconstructions of it made so far. A lot of Eocetus material got lost during WW2 but we know what it is related to and we even have a skull.
