@deborahh I canceled my #WashingtonPost subscription after the Greg Sargent news and signed up for a Boston Globe subscription for $1 for 6 months this morning . I’m on the lookout for new sources now.
"For more than six years, they tracked 18,668 study participants, all 65 or older and all physically and cognitively healthy at the start of the study. In those years, cognitive #dementia was diagnosed in 850 participants (4.6 percent)." -- in today's #WashingtonPost article about the potential danger of/correlation between high #HDL#cholesterol levels (80 mg. or high in men and women; 40 mg. for men is healthy; 50 mg. for women). And that's the "good" cholesterol!
Even if #millenials can afford to buy a house, the fact that the big #insurance companies -- at least in #California -- aren't writing homeowner policies make such an investment really risky. I wish this #WashingtonPost article had mentioned these 2 things: 1) the fact that #StateFarm, #AllState, #Farmers, and #USAA are "putting a pause on these policies" (words used by agent) because of 2) #ClimateChange.
Welp. This article is a tone-setting deal, characterizing AI's potentially murderous mistakes as wacky shenanigans, and not mentioning truly dangerous or exploitive use cases at all. Call me a humorless scold, #WashingtonPost, but this is not remotely good.
India: Damning new forensic investigation reveals repeated use of Pegasus spyware to target high-profile journalists
Amnesty International, in partnership with The Washington Post, has unearthed shocking new details about the continued use of NSO Group’s highly invasive spyware Pegasus to target prominent journalists in India, including one who had previously been a victim of an attack using the same spyware.
This article about a nursing home discharging Steven Block, a person with #dementia who then becomes homeless, is unbearably sad. It is an accompaniment to the #WashingtonPost's very good (and devastating) piece on the deplorable state of #assistedliving communities (even the ones with chandeliers). The #care, or lack thereof, for our #elders is a #shanda.
The man picked to lead the #WashingtonPost stands accused of helping to lead a massive cover-up of #criminal activity.
In lawsuits against #Murdoch’s #NewsCorp, lawyers for #PrinceHarry & #HughGrant depict Lewis as a leader of a frenzied #conspiracy to kneecap public ofcls hostile to a multibillion-dollar #business deal & to delete millions of potentially damning emails. They also allege Lewis sought to shield the CEO of British News Corp’s #NewsUK from scrutiny & conceal wrongdoing at #TheSun.
#RachelMaddow is on fire tonight. Getting real on Nazism and #Trump in a way I'm not seeing on other broadcast/cable/other media. Compare it to the #NYT or #WashingtonPost who are doing a disservice to the Republic IMO
#Tesla is recalling nearly all 2 million of its cars on #US roads to limit the use of its Autopilot feature following a two-year probe by US safety regulators of roughly 1,000 crashes in which the feature was engaged #EV
The recall comes two days after a detailed investigation was published by the #WashingtonPost that found at least eight serious accidents, including some fatalities, in which the the #Autopilot feature should not have been engaged in the first place.
The #WashingtonPost published a story on how #Discord, the chat platform for gamers, became a popular spot for extremists—like the right-wingers who used Discord to plan the #Charlotteville Unite the Right Rally in 2017, and a National Air Guardsman shared classified documents for more than a year on the platform.
Does anyone know of "real-world websites", that are developed by the use of grid layout and "Intrinsic Webdesign", without using any media-queries at all?
For Judd Legum and Tesnim Zekeria, the willingness of major media outlets like Washington Post and CNN to report wildly incorrect misinformation about a non-existent retail crime wave is an act of organized journalistic crime. And even after the erroneous reports on which these stories were based have been retracted, these media outlets remain silent about the misinformation theyve spread.
The Washington Post is on strike... I am not impressed.
Look, I agree, everyone should be earning a living wage, but everyone should also have a clean, none bias news source.
We do not have that in America.
Real news should not vary depending on your political affiliation, and should not vary depending on what company owns the news source or who sponsors them.
Real news is neither moderate, conservative, nor progressive. It should be factual without offering an opinion.
What we often have in America is one celebrity type reporter interviewing another celebrity type reporter, giving their thoughts and opinions.
I get my news from the BBC News, for this reason. Their news updates are often short and brief, between 1 sentence to perhaps 2 paragraphs. Because there is no filler, only facts, short and to the point.
