Vets fret as private equity snaps up clinics, pet care companies
"As pet ownership soared during the COVID-19 pandemic, private equity followed close behind. The pandemic years of 2020-2022 were 'the peak years for private equity acquisitions of veterinary services and practices' [...]
#Stelfonta was specifically designed to target mast cell tumors in #dogs. It induces #necrosis within the #tumor while promoting rapid healing of the affected site—all with minimal scarring and a response from 87 percent of pups having complete tumor resolution.
I know mastodon isn't really the self promoting place that the birdsite was......but I am very proud of this achievement! Last week our university (#vetmeduni#vienna) held an international conference on #veterinary#antibiotic use and #AntimicrobialStewardship for almost 100 researchers from all over Europe, USA, Canada, Argentina etc. and I virtually organised it singlehandedly! I had never organised anything like it before, but I did it, everybody loved it and told me how great it was 😁🐮🐷🐴🐶🐱
Question for #farm#vets#veterinary please: is it possible to determine the sex of unborn lambs when scanning for pregnancy?
I thought it showed how many lambs.
A character in #TheArchers said a ewe had 'scanned for a ram lamb'.
#Dog owners may need to learn to appreciate their best friend’s #urine. Scientists at Osaka Metropolitan University have devised an efficient, non-invasive, and pain-free method to reprogram #canine#stem#cells from urine samples, bringing furry companions one step closer to veterinary regenerative treatment. #Veterinary#sflorg https://www.sflorg.com/2023/12/vet12212301.html
Friday evening.
Cat ate dinner.
Cat thought dinner was too small.
Cat decided he wants a dessert.
Cat swallowed a rubber party glass marker.
Cat went to vet.
Cat couldn't take ipecac due to heart disease.
Cat got RTG.
Cat not happy.
Cat went to a different vet, with endoscopy and life support 24/7.
Cat waiting in line.
Our Marie is fierce at home, bold and confident, and completely shuts down emotionally at the vet. Here, our wonderful vet allows her to "hide" during the exam, which calms her. #Caturday#catsofmastodon#veterinary
Donc on cherche. La c'est son thorax hyperinsufflé grâce à sa sonde trachéale (le chien est anesthésié, deux filtres différents pour voir des choses différentes).
Rien de louche. Juste des lésions d'arthrose. #veterinary#veterinaire
🚌After arriving in Kyiv from my humanitarian volunteer trip to Kherson, I stopped by Cats on Mars to donate and meet the founder Eugene Kibets 🎶
Cats on Mars is an organization that rescues cats from war-torn territories of Ukraine🇺🇦
🗣️During the first year of the full-scale war, Cats on Mars rescued and sheltered more than 300 cats from the liberated cities of the Kyiv region — Buchа, Irpen, Borodyanka, Horyanka … #cats#ukraine#catsofmastodon
The new-ish injected medication Solensia for cats' osteoarthritis pain has helped our Diana, age 15! These last few days she is moving more fluidly and getting into positions she hadn't used in months. Very exciting. #cats#catsofmastodon#veterinary#animals#today

For those of you grieving the communities you've lost on other platforms...
You're not starting from scratch, you're starting from experience.
You know who you are, and you know what you need. You already have a vision of what a healthy supportive community looks like, now you just have to cast about and draw those people together.
And you are doing that on a platform of people so excited to reach out and find YOU too.
@JulieB@vlrny Yes, I definitely feel like I am still foraging for my people! But TBH #birdapp had been hiding my people from me for so long, that I was just used to the toxic rantings as you so rightly put it!
In the meantime, I'm searching for #veterinary#farming#academicchatter#climatechange and #education people.....but many other things too, like #discworld 🤔
