Scientists have identified cells in the brainstem that sense immune cues from the periphery of the body and act as master regulators of the body’s inflammatory response, a finding that could lead to treatments for autoimmune diseases and other conditions caused by an excessive immune response.

• I’ve finished the tiny electric blue whipped back stitch along the main vagus. Now for some freehand burgundy in the gut area in perlé thread.

#WIPwednesday • I finished the trigeminal nerve and am now working on the masseteric and mandibular nerves. Still all in single strand chain stitch. #SciArt #embroidery #VagusNerve

• I’ve almost finished the trigeminal nerve. Single strand chain stitch is slow.

• I got a good start on the facial nerves but I’m doing them in single strand floss so they’ll take a while.

• I’ve mostly finished the brain and am using single strand floss for the details. I need to decide on stitches for the very complex face area soon.

Depletion of serotonin disrupts gut-to-brain communication, which can cause Neurological sx “brain fog” & impaired memory. As resulting in LC through a pathway that originates in the gut & leads to reduction. connects with gut & uses the neurotransmitter serotonin to communicate and regulate many biological & neurological functions

Wahay! Just got my Beurer EM49 TENS machine for transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (teVNS) for anxiety/depression.

My choice of pulse width, frequency, intensity and ON/OFF periods are described here as I delved through the literature (you might need to be a member to see stuff in the Personal thread) https://www.justthetalk.co.uk/personal/47095/overcoming-depression-and-living-with-mental-illness-iv/9192

I'll be McGyvering an ear connector (left ear only, there is a slight risk of messing with your heart if stimulating the right ear, according to some sources, but it's mainly a precaution as it's extrapolated from animals).

#WIPwednesday • I got a lot of #embroidery done the past couple days because I have a cold, not COVID thank goodness! There’s some very delicious layering happening in the gut area now. #VagusNerve #SciArt

A close up of the left side of the abdominal vagus. There are many layers of crossing wavy lines done in blue chai stitch.

New Insights Into Long COVID Point To Damage To The Vagus Nerve

As the body’s primary communication superhighway, the vagus nerve extends into every major organ in the body, including the heart, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract.

As of today I’ve finished the main research for my next piece, this very large . I did an audio course on polyvagal theory to gain some experiential knowledge of my own neuroception. Next step is to write some poetic text. In the meantime I need to finish my liver embroidery before I start stitching this one.
