@HailsandAles@derthomas@jayes Oh man! This is one of my favourite Anvil albums! Daggers and Rum is a terrific song! It's Your Move has a really good groove to it. Ambushed, Run Like Hell and Die For A Lie are also great tracks. Honestly, this is a really good record - especially for a band that has been at it for over 30 years at that point.
Arguably this one's leaning heavily into the #Death side of things - but there's also more than enough #Thrash to go along with that in order to qualify as a nice addition to #ThrashThursday. Plus it's hard-hitting and awesome. Also the cover art is a little bit reminiscent of a certain part in the artwork on Motörhead's "Sacrifice"... which is always more than welcome 😁 ->
I started a #Spotify playlist for some of my favourite #Canadian#Metal after migrating back from #YoutubeMusic (🖕), give a listen or offer some recommendations!
#Monday, Monday, kiss my ass
Shut up quick, don't give me sass
Cuz if you do I'mma act so rash
And beat you up with my #Black#Thrash
#GoodMorning, you cvties! 🌞💜🌈😘 I hope you're doing at least reasonably well today and the start of the new week doesn't get you down too much. Also it's #BlackMetalMonday and that's always a nice and therapeutic outlet for negativity. So here we go ->
Pushead's review of Extreme Noise Terror's cassette in 1986:
"The sound ripped my teeth from their gums as my mouth gaped open wide in astonishment as to the full-front ferocity of extreme power smashing my face. This is the best new blast of damaging explosions to rock the brainwaves as an assault of growling vocals bark over a maniac lashing of speedy thrash pushed in with raw, loud distortion."
It's Wednesday and I'm all mixed up 🥴 - what an opportunity to contribute to the moshing mayhem of #MittwochMetalMix!
And here's something real nice: a blistering, quick EP full of juicy, raging, face-melting #Crossover#Thrash, taking care of all your Bay Area cravings in only 3 songs 🔥 ->
I'm behind with everything and my brain was like, #Thrash ? Nope, haven't seen any of that here. So I opened Bandcamp and searched thrash and these guys came up first in the search.
I give you ThrashWall from Portugal and the fifth song on the album, World Domination
Bandcamp serendipity choice is pretty good actually 🎸
...The gig started at 17,00 and ended around 22.35. That's almost six hours, which is a punishing amount of time to be standing up, especially if you want to see all the acts, and you've got a recurring leg injury, like me.
Some described it as a mini-festival, which is all very well, but at least festivals have grass to sit on.
Even with #Possessed on stage, it ended up feeling like a slog. This dimmed the fun for me, slightly. Oh well.
In summary, all good, deafening fun, but it did feel like there were #Accessibility issues, which is ironic given that #Possessed's lead singer is in a #Wheelchair.
I'm still very mobile, but I dread to think what it might be like for people on crutches, backbraces, pregnancies, & so on.
It doesn't help that gig venues seem bound by sacred law to have next to no seating. The entrance & toilets had too many doors to go through too. Again, I can manage. Plenty can't.
