@thomasfuchs: One of the reason's why I like @mntmn's #MNTReform: Its design has something of a vintage #Thinkpad brick. Same counts for the MNT Pocket Reform: Feels like the true successor of the first #EeePC#netbook, especially those with the fat 3rd-party batteries.
I just replaced a keyboard in a ThinkPad T450 laptop. Some of the keys were not working. When I took the keyboard out to re-seat the connection and test it, I noticed there was some sticky residue likely from a liquid spill.
Replacing the keyboard with another used keyboard fixed the problem of some of the keys not working, so I isolated the problem to the keyboard part and not the ribbon cable connection or other cause.
#thinkpad#linux
I've published a new blog post on my experience setting up and using Fedora 39 on a Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 3 (Intel). I've included steps that I've taken to install the required packages to set up and manage the versions of Python, Ruby, and Node installed.
Blog Post: ThinkPad Updates: Switching to Fedora 39
Are other #thinkpad#linux users having problems waking their device from hibernation with anything newer than #kernel 6.5? How would I ideally trace down the cause? It seems like the device wakes up, but the screen stays black. I'm running #manjaro on a ThinkPad Z16 AMD Gen1.
REINSTALAR WINDOWS y actualizar controladores.
As my work laptop turns 3 years old soon, I'm reflecting on the fact that it's been the best work laptop I've ever had and it's not on my radar to request an upgrade for it any time soon. The combination of #Fedora#Linux + #Lenovo#ThinkPad P14 + #AMD Ryzen 7 Pro is an absolute beast. It hits that perfect sweet spot between great battery life and excellent compute power on demand for running VMs, compiling, etc. Would definitely get this again.
Forever had this #Linux bug where laptop screen backlight randomly reset to 0 on resume, especially w docking stations (on every #ThinkPad model I've owned). Was thinking of reporting it now, but I don't know where.
After only 13 years, I am retiring my #Thinkpad#T420s. It did a great job over all these years and I upgraded it to the max, completely disassembled several times. But it was showing its age. I just set up my new personal device, a #FrameworkLaptop 13 DIY Edition (AMD) by @frameworkcomputer - that's a new kind of maintenance-friendly, repairable notebook. Order, delivery, assembly, setup, migration were a blast. No issues, and the installation of @manjarolinux worked out of the box. :awesome:
Speaking of Linux (sorry to go on about it), I've been running Linux Mint in a vm all day and can totally see myself making it my primary OS.
So now I'm thinking about buying a dedicated laptop. Does anybody know much about hardware and the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 G2's (not Yoga) compatibility? Searches aren't coming up with much.
Ok. Getting #AMD#ryzen#thinkpad was really a good idea. I was finally able to try it out. That business thingy plays Skyrim buttersmooth on Ultra in Wine. None of my X1Cs nor X1 Nano can do that. And I can barely hear the fan! Also FreeBSD works kinda… fine (minus wifi) on it.
