The reality of quitting commercial social media apps.
Over the past year, I stopped using FB/Insta/Twitter/Whatsapp. As a result, my ENTIRE social circle instantly ceased to exist. Friends, family, everyone.
Not a single person was willing to keep in touch without using the mega-apps. Attempts to explain why I left only seemed to infuriate people and paint me as a social pariah.
Despite hiding my birthday on Facebook just so that I can avoid the deluge of online greetings (I'm kinda anti-social that way 😝), the two sets of friends that I met up here in Singapore still remembered! 🥰
During a visit to a marketplace, looking for local delicacies, I chanced upon this. The translation app said it's "crispy rice crust" , and in the #Philippines , these are never commercially sold, and are the unwanted (?) by-product of cooking rice on a stove.
