This rainy week has been challenging for #offgrid baking, it takes 25% of my battery to bake a #sourdough loaf, but I've managed to make 2. This one ran the battery down to 9%. #solarpunk
In #solarpunk news, there’s someone locally on our Craigslist selling used 315W solar panels for $80 each. They have 30 of them — that’s 9.4kW! I just don’t have the space to store them, nor a vehicle to move them; and we already filled our roof with solar. I don’t think our tiny urban lot can host more large panels, just some small accessory lights.
Often when we discuss Solarpunk, particularly as an aesthetic, we tend to focus on lush, green forests and fields. As somebody who grew up in either swampland or desert/Chaparral regions, I tend to view the former vision as a bit...narrow. To me, the powerful vision of Solarpunk is one in which we are united with the diverse Eco-systems of our planet, which can include regions not traditionally thought of or considered.
SUPER COOL: My story will be in a #climate exhibit in NYC!
THE CLIMATE IMAGINARIUM: a community center for climate & culture (galleries, exhibits, performances, events) that respond to the climate crisis with visions for hope & justice.
There'll be a wall of stories w/QR codes to download & read!
I am trying to read more climate fiction and solar punk this year, so I welcome recommendations. So far I've read Cory Doctorow's The Lost Cause and Annalee Newitz's Terraformers.
On my list to read is:
Kim Stanley Robinson -The Ministry For The Future and
Omar El Akkad - American War
Can you spot the difference? Yes, the day is finally here (well, technically it's not yet, the electrician is coming out to do the interconnect with Georgia Power tomorrow)! I'm so excited that GeorgiaBright (free loans for solar installs if you're below a certain income threshold so you don't have any upfront payment) made this possible for me, I never thought I'd be able to do it!
It makes me happy that there are academics studying hopeful climate storytelling. (I'm setting up an interview for my participation in the second study of this type)

Question for all my #Solarpunk peeps:
My library has recently opened recording booths, which I've been using for music (still learning production stuff tho). But I've had another idea: Would there be interest if I started a podcast reading Solarpunk short stories? Like unofficial audio versions of independent stuff that doesn't necessarily have the budget to hire professionals? I also want permission from authors cause I would be trying to make $$ doing it.
Suggestions? Thoughts?
#PhantastikPrompts 04.05.
Beschreibe deine liebste Nebenfigur.

I've given up on the broccoli (it's been over a month, it's not germinating) so planted the flower card in there as it wasn't doing anything in the container I had it in.
Just planted some swiss chard too.
The small terracotta pot is some sunflowers that weren't taking in the previous container. Fingers they're happier in there.
