So far this year, a dead female turned up off Virginia w/ a dislocated spine, a calf was discovered in Georgia w/head lacerations, & a young female was found — again in Georgia — w/ a fractured skull. All the injuries are consistent with strikes.

The first meeting tonight intersecting urban growth with historic preservation was filled with angry uninformed people blurting out half baked rants. The meeting right after across town on the same topic was filled with insightful and curious people asking thoughtful questions about growth strategies. Guess which meeting had the NIMBYs?

Losing video games would be a bit sad but we’d survive, losing scientific research would be devastating and it would take decades to recover, if we ever do. #Science #Publishing #Preservation

So bit of an odd question.

I am a public historian volunteering my services at a historic site in the beginning stages of preserving two buildings, built in 1870s. The director really wants to start going after a large grant, but I feel they need to establish a foundation first. For those who are in this process, or who have successfully completed preservation projects, what were the initial steps you took towards that first big grant? Thanks!
