I bashed Notion without ever trying it. Now I’ve tried it (for one day).

I can see how it could appeal to people. I’m not sure what came first but there’s some similarities to other apps I have used.
The calendar integration Notion Calendar (Cron) is particularly good.

This is pretty wild, because clearly started as a competitor (and I evaluated it as a replacement to use at ), and now they sold to Notion and will shut down.

Encrypted email service Skiff gets acquired, will shut down in six months

Skiff users will lose their @skiff.com email addresses, need to export data ASAP.

Are there any well-designed, preferably free or one-time payment, alternatives to Craft?

The main feature I use is adding pages to paragraphs. See video for example

It would also be great if there was an iOS app as well

I tried Obsidian, Joplin (didn’t like the design of either) and Anytype (WAY too unintuitive). I’m not sure if I should try

Another amazing bonus feature (but I’m not hung up on it) would be a way to add notes to calendar events. Same with it

Skiff got bought up by Notion.
This means that all skiff users need to find a new platform.
Notion does not even offer an email service, so we just lost a big player in the privacy community, very sad that they made this decision. I have considered switching to something like or .
From what i have seen we have 6 months to migrate

Recently I spent some time in Notion building up a board game database that is going to help us on a project.

Each item in the database is packed with properties and will reveal any references coming from other databases in our workspace.

For each, We can add game-specific notes, and refer to them later with ease :)

Alongside this, is a video database that will help us create new content, with a heavy use of templates so we can plan and maintain a consistent feel.

Hejo!

Hey..where are my using friends?

I've run into a real problem: content in various projects is swapping places (and sometimes disappearing) as I'm using it. Previous versions don't have it right.

I'm baffled (and a little desperate).

Effective organization in #Notion challenges my DBA brain. Because Notion's kind of a super powered wiki, what to me is the best way to organize the data isn't the best way to organize the information. I tore it down three times before it finally clicked.

I know this is not Linkedin, but I’m curious: what are the tools that help your personal #productivity the most?

[.] What works for me:

+] this basic pomodoro from @clive: http://text-pomodoro.glitch.me/ when I really need to focus

+] Zotero as a reference manager: https://www.zotero.org/, I would be lost without it

+] Github (desktop): my coding became much more focused, organized and reusable thanks to it: https://desktop.github.com/

+] GanttProject to realize how little time I have left… : https://www.ganttproject.biz/#is-easy

[.] What I tried but didn’t work for me:

-] Tasks “manager”: tried Obsidian, One Note, Google Keep, Notebook… I can’t seem to find The One that works for me (and syncs with my laptop & phone). Taking suggestions!

-] Something to read and annotate pdfs: I got a Remarkable2 tablet, and then an Onyx Boox Note Air 2, and they’re just too slow and do not easily sync with my laptop and Zotero. For the most important papers I have to say I might prefer paper.. Also taking suggestions for this.

Edit: trying to make the bullet points not disappear in #IceCubes is still hard

alesssia,

@plantarum @elduvelle @clive

I'm also using (a very simplified version of) the as todo list/task manager. I also use the same paper notebook to take notes, so it's all in one place. Easy to synconise, a bit more complicated to search 😅

I'm a big fan of , currently also testing , and experimenting with

rivetgeek, to Notion
@rivetgeek@dice.camp avatar

I've decided to go with for organization and notes for the game I'm planning. I went with it over because Notion is less hassle to sync and work with between my tablet and my laptop. I'm still using Obsidian for things where it's fine for it to live only on my laptop.
