The contract #Boeing got for a new spaceship was fixed-price, and worth much more than SpaceX got for the same job. Boeing has for decades gotten fat off of cost-plus contracts, meaning they could bloat the project until shareholders were fat & happy & DOD just kept paying them.
One fixed-price contract & they turn into helpless marshmallows.
i also managed to image this afternoon's ISS solar transit using my Hydrogen Alpha Telescope. The detail on the solar disk is fascinating! #ISS#spacestation#astronomy
Dla tych, ktorym malo wrazen po weekendowym poszukiwaniu zorzy polarnej, dzisiaj kolejne ciekawe zjawisko
Pomiedzy 22:47 a 22:53 centralnie nad Polska bedzie przelatywala #MiedzynarodowaStacjaKosmiczna#ISS, widoczna w postaci stosunkowo jasnego (cos jak Wenus?) obiektu przesuwajacego sie po niebie
Przeloty beda trzy, ale ten o 22:47 najbardziej widoczny. Stacja bedzie leciala w osi Wroclaw-Lodz-Biala Podlaska, poludnie kraju patrzy na polnocne niebo, polnoc - na poludniowe, a mieszkancy Warszawy - prosto w gore ;)
I know it would be difficult and expensive but with the unknown consequences of burning up SO much stuff in orbit (thanks Elon 😕 ) it would be in our best interests to rethink the fate of the ISS.
