Quick update on Congress & shutdown: McCarthy finally bowed to the inevitable to produce a continuing resolution that he hopes Dems will vote for. But then he tried to have the vote as soon as the bill went out. Dems, distrustful, are using procedure for two reasons: one, to see what’s in the McCarthy CR and two, to see if the Senate CR passes. If the Senate one passes, House Dems will likely vote against McCarthy CR. If not, there could be more wrangling, but that’ll probably be what passes.

'Fabian Marta, a financier of the film Sound of Freedom, has been arrested and charged with child kidnapping, according to reports.
Marta, who said in comments on Facebook that he was an “angel investor” in the film and that his role involved reacquiring the rights back from Disney to stop them from “burying” the film, was arrested on July 21.
According to records from the official Missouri Courts website, Marta has been officially charged with kidnapping in the First Degree and is accused of allegedly “removing a non-family member below the age of 14 without their parent’s consent.”
In Missouri, child kidnapping is a class A felony, which means Marta faces 10 years to life in prison if found guilty. From Chesterfield, Missouri, while Marta’s bail was set at $15,000, he was released following an initial court appearance on July 24.'
