All this time, #Cron on my raspberry pi has not worked at all. Thankfully I got it working after months wondering why my #FreshRSS instance never updated in the background
My primary way of getting news? Good old #RSS with various reputable sources.
After the departure of Google Reader, I was using Feedly but in light of their AI surveillance efforts I canceled the account and run #FreshRSS on my tiny home server.
Client is #Reeder on iPhone and iPad - a perfect app if there ever was one.
It was about time I wrote about my #RSS shenanigans with #FreshRSS and such things. Basically I marked everything as read by mistake and decided to accept it and move on. And add a bunch of new feeds too!
I wrote a quick #blogpost about how great word filters are on my #RSS feed, thanks to #FreshRSS! And they're pretty good here on #Mastodon too, when you want to avoid certain topics and themes, like the absurd amount of Prime Day deals on every tech website ever... :blobfoxangrylaugh:
So I’ve been using #FreshRSS for my #rss#feeds lately and I have been loving it. But I need to find myself some more news sources to subscribe to. Only following @verge and the blogs for the programming languages I use.
What #rss reader do you use? Looking at something that syncs between my desktop and mobile phone. I’ve heard of #FreshRSS and don’t mind #SelfHosting either.
It's weird to see #Apache2 recommended over #Nginx for a #PHP webserver in this day and age what with fpm having notably better performance. Looking at #FreshRSS for news feeds but maybe better just using #Nextcloud News. Would be even better if it just supported the FreshRSS API so compatible apps could be used easily, like how Nextcloud Music works with both Ampache and Subsonic clients.
EDIT: miswrote/spoke and forgot apache does fpm too
🖖 #RSS
How to combine @FreshRSS and @omnivoreapp to have a curated reading experience. Our community member Riiku explained how to set everything in this article: https://buff.ly/3IKbHXB
#justsaying I fscking love #FreshRSS. Tho, the 3rd party mobile apps all pretty much suck, like some just don't show any feeds. I just added the webpage as an app, it's fine.
