Baku, to melbourne in Mildura Digital Television to shut down on July 30

From personal experience, not very. But my only direct experience has been in hotels, which obviously isn’t a very high bar. I got about 25mbp/s at the Quest and about 12 at the “Quality hotel Grand”.

Apparently my experience doesn’t reflect the average though, speedtest.net reckons the average is 91mbp/s. I don’t buy that though, as Melbourne (the state capital) only averages 68mbps and Mildura is a tiny little town hundreds of kilometres away from really anything. I’m guessing that if that figure is correct, it’s only measuring people in either new developments, or near the city centre. In rural Vic, internet speeds very quickly evaporate once you go more than 5km or so (at best) outside of a major city

Today, like many other West Australian teachers, I'm not going to work this morning.

It's interesting that our industrial action is represented in the media as about pay. We're not striking over salary - we're striking because the system is broken.

My son has had no Phys Ed teacher all year. He's had a procession of relief teachers which, for a special needs child, is extremely distressing. He attends an inner city public school, but staffing shortages are statewide.

Speaking of special needs students, I'd like to look after my own without having to skip lunch to ensure their needs are met.

I'd like the Education Department to give me a personal device so I can do my job
(more efficiently). If I want a laptop, I have to lease one.

I'd like an acknowledgement of how teaching has recently become more difficult and demanding, especially during #COVID19, when we kept schools open and tried to keep students safe.

I enforced the mask mandate far more often than a rank-and-file police officer. I've probably been threatened and assaulted more times than many police officers too. And the statewide mobile phone ban? Guess who enforces that every single day.

So many of my colleagues have left teaching: re-trained or resigned due to burnout and stress. Who suffers? The students.

It's not about the pay. We're tired, and we need support. We're underfunded and under-resourced. We need to improve conditions for students. We need to fix the system.

Will attacks be as big as those targeting MOVEit? Maybe not, but they still can be plenty bad.

I'm going to have a bit of a (less charitable people might say ) here. If you just want jokes and cute bunny pictures, feel free to skip this one.

Object of my this week? . I'm not even going to rant about their main control boards; most of that's been said better than I could say it, by others with more knowledge than I.

I'm ranting about .

Ages ago, furnaces had one in them, to spin the that moves air through your house.

cazabon,

Of course, if my furnaces today used that design, I wouldn't be #ranting.

I have two #furnaces - at the time this home was built, it was the style here to put in two furnaces, one for the upstairs, and one for the main floor and basement. Kind of like a really #janky #zone system. I replaced both of them when I bought this #house.

Well, last #winter, the blower motor in one #died. It's kind of nice having two; the house was #chilly but #livable while I was getting it #fixed.

The issue preventing the feeds from refreshing last night and this morning have now been fixed. This was due to a bug in the update to Mastodon 4.1.5 yesterday and the awesome folks at @mastohost figured it out and got it patched this morning.

We certainly apologize for any inconveniences this might have caused and appreciate your patience during this time!

YEEESSS!! I finally fixed this weird #CSS overflow bug I had with #CodeMirror, where the surrounding container always expanded in it's width, when passing a certain char count on a line.

I've tried everything: max-width, flex: 0 yada yada, nothing helped.

Until I stumbled across this innocent looking thread:
    https://discuss.codemirror.net/t/size-inside-flexbox/1359

    The trick:

    1. position: relative for the surrounding container
    2. position: absolute !important for CodeMirror itself

    Very happy right now!😊
