I was driving and stopped at a red light this afternoon when some oblivious driver in an SUV absolutely nailed a puddle on the other side of the median and showered my car with muddy water. The stuff looked so bad that I tried to wipe it off when I got home…and it wouldn’t come off. I don’t know what kind of petrochemical that was in the ground but it was sticky as hell.
I tried soaking the car in car wash solution—nope. I tried a clay bar—nope. Then I tried Mothers R3—and it came off!
Lessons learned:
Don’t drive into puddles, what the hell. If others can avoid it, so can you.
Keep your window closed when stopped at a red light on a wet day—good thing I didn’t get a personal mud shower.
Ceramic coating wears out after a few years and you need to reapply it, or stuff will absolutely stick to your car.
