Fuck QR codes! I went to the DMV this morning, and they've replaced their 'take a number' check-in system with a giant QR code poster. I told them my phone doesn't do those, so they had to check me in manually. I've never once used those damned things and I'm not about to start now. 🤬
I was surprised to learn there is a no-fail test for seniors over 70 renewing their CDLs after helping a senior household setup a wireless printer and then helping one of them create a DMV account because renewal notice said they were eligible for online renewal and they wanted to do this option. The renewal process still requires an in-person portion though and I found myself wondering if the DMV lets mask-wearing seniors take renewal photos outside… #DMV#California#CovidIsNotOver
My impossible dream: That a corporation based in the #DMV would buy the naming rights to #Commanders Field and call it Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. #NFL@nfl
Has anyone used the CA DMV “get in line” feature on the website? How does it work? Will they give you an estimate of when your turn will be? #sfba#california#dmv
Awesome news! Montgomery County (MD) passed a bill to eliminate parking minimums within a half mile of Metrorail and Purple Line stations, and within a quarter mile of BRT stops, including ones which are funded but don’t exist yet!
Notably, the change will go into effect in just 20 days
Montgomery County schools superintendent Monifa McKnight stepping down. I detect a nationwide pattern. Hmmm...
Gifted article for all to read. https://wapo.st/3Op1nHK #DMV#blackmastodon
Harper's Ferry outing yesterday. This place sits at the ultimate #DMV intersection: Appalachian and C&O Canal Trails, Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, plus it has a great train station. I guess there's a bit of history here as well…
Visited my parents at the cemetery. Turned after a while to leave and, just steps away from Mom and Dad's grave, I ran into a headstone for Rex Barney, the legendary former Memorial Stadium announcer. At the base of the marble slab: "Thank yooouuu." Like, WHAT???? The granter of baseball fan contracts (IYKYK) died in 1997. How had I missed him in decades of coming here to see Dad? Still, what a happy encounter in a sad place. Left the graveyard glad to know that my parents -- diehard Orioles fans -- have neighbors who, like them, are ridiculously cool.
