Apollo 13 has a lot going on. One feature the players rarely get to see is the magnetic moon that captures balls. A lot of owners, yours truly included, have noticed no matter how special balls you use in the game, you'll end up with 13 fridge magnets very soon if the moon is in use. Here you can see it temporarily activated for cleaning. It has no major effect for gameplay, the balls just get returned to inlane instead of plungerlane. #pinball#apollo13#arcade
Continuing to play Ketsui on PS4 and loving every minute of it.
I'm confident that I'll be able to platinum it as well, which is the last thing I was expecting to say about a Cave game. 😂
I decided to go back to the PS3 version to unlock some trophies there as well as I mainly played on 360 back then. My 360 games are in storage right now though.
I forgot how much fun the X Mode was in this release.
Again, highly recommend both versions.
Oh man, this shit is cool!
When you're that loving of your project and the things that made it good, you will do what you can to preserve the old arcade sound.
Quote by Andy Hofle: the author.
"The arcade ambience project is an attempt of mine to simulate the audio ambience of a crowded arcade room during the golden age of arcades in the 1980s. This is a sound I think that has been lost over the years and does not exist in today's pitiful arcades in my opinion. My main motivation for this project was to create some ambience in my basement arcade, having a somewhat authentic arcade background hum while I or my guests play on my MAME arcade cabinet. I thought that maybe others who have cabinets (or just miss real arcade nostalgia) could also benefit from my work." http://arcade.hofle.com/ #Arcade#old games #retro games #arcade sound #old arcades
Slingshot (Gyurco) has updated several arcade cores from Gehstock's respository, now with screen rotation option, so you can enjoy them with any monitor even it can't rotate :ablobcatenjoy:
Bootup has two steps - first is warming up the bubble memory chip on the cartridge, then there’s a song and countdown as the entire program is copied from the bubble memory card to system RAM.
Gotta ask people here if they’ve ever seen or used bubble memory in other applications. It was a short lived media that was replaced by “typical” ROM chips.
I was in the mood for some arcade gaming yesterday after work, so I started playing some Gun.Smoke, 19XX, GigaWing, Final Fight on Capcom Arcade Stadium.
Then I moved on to Ketsui Deathtiny on PS4, by Cave and M2, which is exclusive to the system.
It's one of the Cave games I'm not actually good at, but I love it nonetheless and the new modes are just brilliant!
The Deathtiny one especially is actually very easy with a tiny hitbox. So much fun!
Bram Stoker's Dracula's "magical" levitating ball never gets old for me! Over 30 since this game's release, it still blows new players' minds. #pinball#90spinball#magnet#arcade
#RetroGaming#Event#idea: pop-up #arcade, where people bring a cheap LAN party rig and a pair of controllers and then people can go around from table to table and play whatever game they brought. There could be a theme for the night (8-bit, female protagonist, Japanese dating sim, etc) and prizes for the games that fit it best. Event space could be indoor or outdoor (using laptops and projectors for screens)

thread of my #arcadeexploration posts, starting with my latest:
exploring the arcade in the 1978 movie 鬼畜 / Kichiku (The Demon)
each blog entry features an arcade in a movie (mostly from #japan) and tries to identify all of the machines.
This is an exceptionally difficult task because:
