Some nice views of the numerous bays from the ferry #Picton to Wellington. Booking the end-of-day departure is ideal to enjoy the golden hour's light! 🤩 #Interislander#Aotearoa#NZ
Long time no post! Sorry I've been lazy.
Catching up with a short #hike to Te Tihi-o-Kahukura (Castle Rock), at the south of #Ōtautahi#Christchurch. Nice views on the city from over there and on Diamond Bay from Te Moenga-o-Wheke on the other side.
His of Magpies in the way, luckily not as aggressive as I've been told. Went down with Humpty Dumpty Track, pretty hard to follow but I made it after many hesitations.
So cool to just bike home after the hike! Nice to have such spots near the city. #Aotearoa#NZ
So the job I moved to Chch for, investing my last 3 months of valid work visa, supposed to offer me a new visa is letting me down.
Reason: they play by the rules and found a Resident eligible for the job, while advertising the position - as required by the #immigrationnewzealand to get a Job Check. Can't blame them.
But I'm the one loosing everything and I am pretty sad, upset and anxious. My future in #Aotearoa#NZ is compromised.
Any help & ideas will be welcome in this tough time. Kā mihi!
The Tron really is becoming the city of the future;
"The relative geographical stability of the Waikato region, compared to more earthquake prone regions such as the Wellington and Canterbury regions, makes it the ideal place to establish a data centre. It’s a no brainer of a decision for hosting companies following the construction of the city’s high speed broadband network built by Ultrafast Fibre over the last five years."

"[NZ] Governments of both the left and right invested heavily in public infrastructure such as water, roading and power networks from the 1940s to early 1970s, paid for with sharply higher income taxes, land taxes and estate duties. Government investment as a share of GDP ranged from 10-15% over that period and income tax rates were over 50% for many."
Next time someone tells you that taxing income from capital gains and inheritances is unthinkable in NZ, let alone a land tax, ask them if they know we used to have all three until the 1980s.
"The lack of discussion about child poverty from the National-led coalition government is concerning. This government is focused on getting people into work, but we know over half of the children in poverty are in households with at least two, sometimes three or four incomes."

"Talking about wise investment and avoidance of waste... If the NZ economy is so fragile, how come we can afford a multi-billion tax giveaway to landlords, but cannot afford to spend one third of that amount on securing a reliable trade and tourism ferry link between the North and South Islands? Surely, we must be the only country in the world that is pinning its hopes on a landlord-led economic recovery."
If the water in a river didn't flow downhill towards the sea, it wouldn't be a river. If the passage of life didn't flow downhill towards death, it wouldn't be a life.
Didn’t get $47 value from this hāngī meal & pie at Whakarewarewa: boiled dead vege, chicken & 3cm cut of lamb: flavour free! When B was a lad, hāngī food had distinct smoky earth taste. Anyone recommend an authentic outlet in Central Nth Is?
Such was our disappointment we skipped the Māori village tour.
Whittaker’s Choc Cross Bun captures taste well: perhaps a petition for a 🍫Choc Hāngī edition?
