@AnnaAnthro It will be interesting to see if Oceania includes #Aotearoa , or only Australia. Some low-profile/ low-buzz but excellent longer #KDramas in the past have been Kocowa-only. Having access to them without needing an eye patch and a parrot would be lovely.
FFS can we please get a whole-of-government case management service, where people want to work for more than a few months at a time?
I know people who have a case manager with WINZ, with Kāinga Ora, and with a bunch of other social services. The turnover is so rapid that they're constantly meeting new case managers, most of whom have not been briefed properly (if at all) about the particular circumstances of the citizens they're meant to be helping. Useless.
The govt of #Aotearoa has painted itself into a corner. If it doesn't implement tax cuts it will disappoint, and if it does implement tax cuts then most people, apart from the super wealthy, are going to be very disappointed when they see how small their tax cut is versus the huge cost they bear in reduced public services. #nzpol
Luxon says #tax breaks for landlords will result in lower rents, and OH look, there's a pink elephant flying over #Aotearoa! Tax breaks for landlords will encourage speculative "investment" in houses, pushing up #house prices, making home ownership harder for young people and ultimately increasing rents. #nzpol
Fair Go is the canary in the coalmine of investigative journalism. It's imminent demise is deeply troubling.
Whatever their opinion about the political neutrality of the contemporary news media - or whether broadcasting should be a public service, a business, or a mix - most kiwis value what a program like Fair Go does. It still gets huge audiences on broadcast TV.
Took Adventure Highway nth, again admiring Mt Ruapehu (📷1) & flat-topped Mt Hikurangi. Then onto Forgotten World Highway/ SH43 from the King Country town of Taumarunui. Initially it follows Whanganui River, beside bluffs of alternating coarse sandstone & fine mudstone (papa), former seabed up to 1.3km thick (📷2). Rugged farmland (📷3) gives way to bush in erosion-resistant Tangarakau Gorge (📷4).
Yesterday hike to Mount Herbert, the highest hill of Banks peninsula! Very nice views, in spite of a freezing wind at the summit.
Went there by car but regret did not have been doing bus+ferry: similar time, better experience, less pollution. #hike#hiking#mountain#mountains#BanksPeninsula#Canterbury#Aotearoa#NZ
a truly outstanding crime thriller, highly recommended. The only reason it didn't get 5/5 is that the author committed a truly HEINOUS crime in the writing of the book - calling Crowded House an AUSSIE band! 😡🤬🤣 #AmReading#ebooks#Kobo@bookstodon#Aotearoa#Australia#Mystery#thriller
