My daily lepidopterological (is that a new word?) activities are truly picking up, as of yesterday.
not one, not two, but three butterfly species visited me, and two of them gave me the stare: a Red Admiral and a Small White. The third one - a male Orange Tip - was too busy flitting about to look around.

a small white butterfly on a large green lead. it is facing the camera, its head and eyes, white front legs and antennae clearly visible

This swallowtail was a beauty. I hope it found safe refuge from the storm.

More action. Overhead, the Tigers battled for airspace. I saw several, and three at one time.

Another shot to battling Swallowtails.

So-so day in the world here. Still not seeing the Hairstreaks or the Blues. Saw what I thought was a Lorquin’s Admiral but on photo-inspection turned out to be a Sister. Still seeing Orangetips, which are usually gone by now. The biggest catch was a Pale Swallowtail (maybe more than one). I was about to say the species are slowly coming out, but again the pictures reveal this guy already has major battle scars. Not sure what the story is there.
