Song of the Day - No 517

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - OCEAN RAIN

Title track of the band's 1984 album, this sweeping ballad showcases a grand orchestration and Ian McCulloch's emotive vocals. Its poetic lyrics evoke a sense of longing and romanticism, culminating in a dramatic crescendo. Often considered one of their most iconic songs.

XTC – Mayor Of Simpleton (1989)
Limited Edition, 12” 45 RPM single on Virgin Records

Cool that they took a new single that I like and added 3 of my favorite XTC songs. Makes for a perfect 4 track album.

A rendition of the three band members in the middle of the back album cover. Below we see the black vinyl disc with gray center label and black text.

Höre gerade - etwas untypisch für mich - Heisskalt. Alternative Rock.

I buy or have bought a lot of physical media in my life, so there is a lot of on my shelves: PF's "Meddle", Eluveitie's "Slania", ERR's "Marked for death", etc. But the hashtag calls for something more special and there is only one album, on CD, that I have scratched only due to extended overuse. It was my first CD ever, and therefore is my treasure.

He began the article with an image: “I imagine a trench, about four feet wide & five feet deep, maybe sixty yards long, filled with runny, decaying [excrement]. I imagine these people, some of them good friends, some of them barely acquaintances, at one end of this trench. I also imagine a faceless industry lackey at the other end, holding a fountain pen & a contract waiting to be signed.”
