Even CNN is picking up the "hey, uh, Netanyahu actually helped fund Hamas to destabilize the peace process" story:

Also, despite backing Israel from the beginning of the current flare-up, even Biden's patience with Netanyahu is rapidly fading:

OlDude82,

@tess

Biden's patience with Netanyahu is creating a rupture in Biden's support in this country. The 2024 election is way too important to continue to "stand shoulder to shoulder" with a government in the process of indiscriminately killing innocents, no matter the support in Congress for such a position. Not to mention that supporting Israel at this point is tantamount to condoning that killing. Break it off - NOW!

@OlDude82 @tess

Well said, Israel's genocidal rampage threatens not just Biden's Election and the Democratic parties coalition - and so a return of the GOP to the white house, but also NATO as an alliance, since the majority of NATO is calling for a Ceasefire.

Still despite these signs of "losing patience" Biden is giving Israel basically unlimited access to arms, which they certainty do not need, and so directly fueling the genocide

@tess that explains why he went around Congress to send tank munitions to aid the genocide. wait no it doesn't

@tess Its one big GIANT mess. And all because all parties involved don't pray to the same God. WHEN will this childish, archaic bullshit stop ?!

@tess This is a nice change of pace. The winds are shifting. Let's hope it continues.

tess,
@tess@mastodon.social avatar

@MattMerk you can see it in Biden starting to use stronger and more skeptical language when talking about Netanyahu's actions.

I think we're going to see the centrists and liberals distance themselves from him, specifically, as a way to put pressure on Israel to moderate its actions.

This is good; Netanyahu must be removed if there is any hope for peace.

MattMerk,
@MattMerk@mastodon.social avatar

@tess 100% yes on removing Bibi, but I have to ask, what makes you think the centrist/liberal faction is moving at all on this? I'm not saying I disagree. I just haven't personally seen any real change with those people.

tess,
@tess@mastodon.social avatar

@MattMerk The two articles I posted.

CNN is still the centrist news site. And Biden has changed how he's talking about Israel; saying publicly he doesn't think Netanyahu wants a real solution.

It's a small but extremely important shift in the rhetoric centrists and liberals are going to be hearing.

MattMerk,
@MattMerk@mastodon.social avatar

@tess Good point. I don't even think of CNN as centrist at this point, what with its current management and editorial choices. But that only makes the argument stronger.
