I am so with you on this. Most people haven't got a clue. Moving water can sweep cars right off the road. Flash floods can bring boulders tumbling down canyons into neighborhoods. It's serious shit. I've seen firsthand what they can do.
I lived in AZ and had a dry wash running through my property. Saw it take a flatbed trailer away; we found it half buried in sand 1/2 mile away.
You're right about them not being ready. I'm wondering how many idiots will try to drive through water crossing a road, thinking their Ford F150 with big tires can handle it. 🙄
@ratkins@ai6yr i usually watch the Nat’l Weather Service, yeah, or NOAA. fwiw, i think it’s too soon to be that worried. even if So. Cal gets a dumping, storms have a difficult time making it over the Sierra, and even if they do, they tend to be much, much weaker. And then get all the way north to the playa? seems rather unlikely.
