Friendly reminder: It's easy to forget there are many more people in the world that write code and are not developers than there are professional software developers. Scientists, journalists, lawyers, activists, med. doctors, writers, educators, artists, designers, and many others, can create computer programs!

This paper from 2012 shows an 2005 estimate (for 2012) that there are almost 4x more people programming ("end user programmers") than professional programmers https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/2212776.2212421

A great story via @Edent:

A customer complained that their bank was spelling their name incorrectly. The bank refused to solve the issue because it didn't have support for diacritical marks on US mainframe era software, so the customer raised a GDPR complaint under Article 16, sued and won!

Do you contribute to Free/Libre Open Source #FLOSS projects, with work or money? If you do, which one?

If you don't, consider doing it. I could really use some support so I can work on my open #Python teaching materials and continue working on #py5.

I love the work that I do, the teaching and these contributions to "the commons", but things have been terrible economically for me this year and my anxiety is going through the roof :(

Hi everyone, last year was very hard for me because I'm on a PhD program without a scholarship/grant*, I had fewer classes than I expected and my wife has been unable to work, mostly due to health issues. As it is natural, some patrons I had couldn't keep donating, and lapsed, also I'm kind of bad at asking for donations... so if you think you can spare a few bucks a month...

Um pouco de ângulos, com seno, cosseno e arco tangente <- link para a página completa com as demonstrações e código

Seno e cosseno são muito úteis para fazer animações cíclicas, é muito fácil usar a contagem pronta dos quadros oferecida pelo py5, frame_count como se fosse um ângulo em graus, converta em radianos e voi-lá!
