Got the first shot (of two) of my shingles vaccination and feel absolutely fine, save for a little soreness at the injection site, for which my CBD salve is working wonders.

Everyone said this one is rough but so far, so fine!

Get your shingles shots y'all. However much it hurts (it doesn't), it's soooo much less painful than shingles.

Edited to add: Apparently the shot is limited to 50 and up, a club I recently joined. So get it when you can, youngsters!

I was a very early adopter of Twitter and checked it constantly for over a decade. For several years it was actual my job to be very On Twitter.

I didn't think it was going to be possible for me to detach from that platform but at this point I'm using the Fediverse a whole hell of a lot more. I signed on to Mastodon a few years ago but not many people were here so it was hard to remember to check in.

Now it's the opposite - Fediverse is my default and Twitter I have to remember to go check.

Extremely happy to announce that @kissane and I have been funded by @DigInfFund to run a project called Fediverse Governance Successes & Gaps!

We will look at the people, software, and processes of the Fediverse, and make strong recommendations for how open source projects, philanthropic funders, civil society organizations, and others can co-create a Fediverse that is safer and better for humanity than the social media we've been stuck with for decades.

The only reason I am still lurking Xitter is because many space news-related convos are still happening there.

The bifurcation of users (or trifurcation?) is interesting though.

  • A lot of the space research and science-led discussion is happening here in the Fediverse.
  • On Threads I'm seeing overlap, more and more mainstream launch chatter happening there with MUCH more open critique of Musk and less SpaceX worship.
  • X seems to be mostly the vocal Musk & SpaceX die-hards.

Always the worst when it's time to take one of our cats to the vet. Pickles just scratched and bit the hell out of Eric trying to get her into the carrier, the whole house still smells of fear pheromones. I wish more than anything we could tell them somehow that we're not going to do anything bad to them when it's vet time. I hate how scared they get :(

@gcluley I'm with her. There are some interesting moments but overall the movie is pretty boring IMO. (Then again as much as I like Kubrick's visuals, very few of his films I actually find enjoyable as a watch.)

This scene from the fifth episode was actually shot during the filming of season 1!

Showrunner David S. Goyer: "We hoped we were going to get a 2nd season even as we were shooting the first — and since we had Alfred Enoch with us, I managed to convince Apple to let us shoot this scene. It was actually filmed way back in the fall of 2019 in the hopes we would be able to use it. Alex Graves was game to leapfrog ahead and direct this scene a few years out-of-context!"

@TheSpaceshipper THAT is amazing! I was wondering about this scene when it came up this season... they are absolutely playing the long game with this show. I hope they get all the seasons they need to tell the story.
