There's no way to get everything sorted in time to accept the aged care place this week. This means hospital will send mum home. Not today but once the supports are in place. Bit shell shocked. But neither of us want to sign up without knowing exactly where mum stands in terms of fees (more complicated than it looked at first).

@melissabeartrix still have some old family pocket watches tucked away somewhere. Nothing fancy just their everyday ones, i'm guessing. Used to love holding them when i was a kid. Very tactile objects. Plus the sense of connecting in some way to their late owners (who i'd only met through family stories).

Have been re-reading the Barrayar series by Lois McMaster Bujold for the umpteenth time. Started towards the end this time, then circled back to Shards of Honor (the ending still makes me teary). A favourite series even after all these years.

Few people out on a rainy Saturday morning. The cockies were out though, foraging on the grass under one of the hoop pines. Not looking as carefree and raucous in the wet.

Video of several sulphur-crested cockatoos foraging on the park lawns under a tree on a rainy day. Sound is the wind, a few bird chirps (not the cockies) and a bit of rainy day sounds (rain, traffic going on wet road out of shot).

No bunya pine cones on today's walk but did find an old cicada shell clinging on to the side of one of the big old palm trees.

Gossip on the street was that the local post office (in the newsagent) is going to be forced to close in May. Australia post is closing its less profitable agencies.

Sucks big time because it's a hub for the local community - lots of folks do all their banking there and all the businesses around do their banking there too. Really convenient and the lady who runs it is lovely.

Noticed a bunya cone had fallen to the ground. Looked like a bird had a peck. Nuts to be good tucker for people too. Not sure how they're prepared.
