Had a dentist appointment first thing (just a check and clean) so a bit later than usual on my walk. Good news was nothing bad happening with the toothy-pegs - always a relief.

Gossip on the street was that the local post office (in the newsagent) is going to be forced to close in May. Australia post is closing its less profitable agencies.

Sucks big time because it's a hub for the local community - lots of folks do all their banking there and all the businesses around do their banking there too. Really convenient and the lady who runs it is lovely.

Could hear the lorikeets in the upper branches when i stopped to take some pics of the native fig tree at ground level. Was a lovely surprise to find one this close - an arm's length maybe - happily snacking away.

My Aunty just rang me, worried a painful rash on her arm was shingles. She wanted me to consult google it, so i did and read out the symptoms on a couple of health info sites.

Then i thought to ask her - have you ever had chickenpox?

Nope! So can't be shingles.

If it's that level of painful, suggested she get it seen to though. So she's going to try her local GP Access After Hours number.

@mativity thanks. hoping she'll see someone who can tell her what it is. Was concerned that it was so painful, considering it first cropped up on Thursday. Chemist thought it waa an allergic reaction to a bite so she's been taking antihistamines.

@mativity @kauer @melissabeartrix had chicken pox once as a kid. Not a fan. And would like to avoid shingles if possible - not eligible for a free vaccine for ages though. Mum just had the first needle of the new shingles vaccine which is meant to be more effective.

Another day to keep on the shadier paths. Predicted top of 43C and it was over 30C when i set out before 9am. Felt cool in the park with a lovely breeze and some intermittent cloud cover.

Noticed these amazing red flowers on my walk through the park. Called the firewheel tree according to plant id app, mostly growing in rainforests further north (northern NSW up).

This purple petunia amid the marigolds caught my eye. Most of the other petunias are in a line between 2 dense columns of white marigolds. This one stepped out of line. Love how shiny it looks after the earlier rain too.

There was a greyhound adoption meet and greet event in the park today. Looked very festive with happy people and dogs.

Lots more greyhounds being walked around the park than usual too, presumably by supporters of Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) organisation that put on the event. Hope lots of greyhounds find their people through this.

@Susan60 they are lovely dogs. Neighbour has a black greyhound who sometimes says hi when we're out and about at the same time. He likes to lean on me and get pats (the greyhound, not the neighbour).

When I was 11 or 12 I had to go to the shops to get my mum her menstrual products ... It always made me feel nice ... I would pretend they were for me ... Blush
