question for those of you who write music in more unusual time signatures, do you generally:

write an idea without knowing what it'll be in and then figure out the time signature?

or decide to write in a specific one and then come up with something that fits into it?

Generally the former.. "Oh darn it, that melody is in 15/4, how the hell am I going to make the beats work for that..."

Oh yes. I love odd time signatures, and have spent a lifetime listening to prog rock, jazz fusion etc... stuff that changes between different signatures within the track too!

I can't find a link to the track on streaming services but there's a piece called "Nurburgring" by Stomu Yamash'ta's East Wind (album is called One by One, think it was a film soundtrack) - that does the 5 groups of three thing really well :)

Humble Bundle seems to have a bundle with some Cherry Audio virtual synths at the moment, including Quadra which you'll hear on a few Key 13 tracks, notably Primavera and Lateral Flow.

Also includes Mercury-4 which is a Roland Jupiter-4 emulation, and Dreamsynth.

The deal includes a whole bunch of sample packs too.

Not affiliated in any way but I use a lot of Cherry Audio stuff and this is a cheap price...!
