I love lentils, and I love chickpeas, so when today's lunch place offered lentil soup with chickpeas, I didn't hesitate.

It turned out to be a watery concoction made from stock cubes and maggi liquid, with a handfull of lentils and chickpeas added, and a dollop of over-age yoghurt.

It wasn't worth the effort of spooning it up, so no lunch for me today. It wasn't even worth complaining about, because I wouldn't have been able to say anything that wouldn't be sarcastic.

@Quinnypig I hereby, as the maintainer give everyone officially the right to verb "krita" and say "the image was krittered."

Or "kritaed" or whatever you may make of it: krita is a trademark, and you can play with it to your heart's content. (Except for selling counterfied spyware laden versions in app stores or on ebay.)

Fun... Mollie, Krita's payment provider for donations, has disabled Apple Pay (which wasn't used by anyone, let's put that first) for the #Krita Foundation because we are a non-profit asking for donations that Apple hasn't approved of...

Of course, nobody can tell me how I can tell Apple that they should approve of us, or even why Apple should have the right of approval.

@shoq I'm old enough to remember when his highness, prince-consort Claus took of his necktie in public and flung it into the room during a public event and thought "okay, so it's okay if I never wear a tie anymore."

And I didn't.

Though I did acquire a couple of necklaces down the road.

Salsify is lovely, great, tasty and shiny. Re-reheated salsify is none of the above, I learned today, when re-heating the curry I made with already cooked, frozen salsify.

After two years of #LongCovid, I am convinced of three things:

  • I can no longer remember what it was like to be healthy.

  • I can no longer remember why I am not healthy. It's a haze.

  • I want to bop everyone who says "get healthy soon" on the nose, and, if at all possible, on the solar plexus, too.

Out of a whim, I decided to get my 10 year old #Cintiq 13HD Companion Hybrid out of storage. #Wacom no longer supports this model, but I got it to run with their oldest driver that supports Windows 11.

I'm not sure what I will use it for, but it was fun trying out the different brushes with #krita . These days I use #Inkscape for most of my graphical design work, but it's nice to have options.

Dear European BD writers/artists: if you want to use Russian (or Chinese, or Japanese) in your text balloons, make sure it isn't nonsense. Whether it's Japanese army officers speaking "Chinese" (actually just street names) or Russians shouting "Vodka for everyone!" when shooting at people escaping -- I will notice, and I will think less of your work.

KDE MacOS hardware obtained! Now I need one extra power outlet in the supply closet because a mac apparently can't function (start up?) without a monitor.

That aside, it was great to see @halla again and hear her lament about the lack of a comprehensive grammar of the Thai language.(Really, I learn something new every time I visit)

Ik heb nog eens goed nagedacht over wat @SIDN nu eigenlijk van plan is en mijn bezwaar komt hier op neer:

Open Systemen, Open Standaarden horen voor #SIDN en ook voor het registratiesysteem van SIDN heilig te zijn!

Ik vind dat we er met z'n allen voor moeten pleiten dat het registratiesysteem van een registry (een essentiële organisatie voor de toegang tot het internet) gebouwd zou moeten worden in uitsluitend #OpenSource Software, uitsluitend op basis van volledig open #standaarden gedraaid op volledig open #systemen

We betalen daar immers met z'n allen voor, als gebruikers van de .nl domeinnaam en als belastingbetalers.

En wat mij betreft is er geen enkele goede reden om daar ook maar 1 cent van uit te geven aan een mensenrechten schendend, in de USA gebaseerd, big tech bedrijf. Het is goedkoper is wel de allerslechtste reden om dat te doen.

My nail polish remover got used up. It was the kind where there's liquid inside a bottle, together with a sponge you can rub your nails against.

It's pretty effective, efficient -- but it smells way too sweet.

So, I got the sponge out of the bottle, washed it and put in the burnable trash, and put the bottle and cap, after washing them out, in the recyclabes bin.

Was that right, or not?

I don't know anymore.

I just got an offer: for a small fee ($945, their words) someone would make an AI write about #krita, and they were sure they could get the result syndicated to important websites like -- well, I had never heard of any of them, so I guess that part was a lie.

It's no lie though that I'm not going to give them a grand.

A while ago I started to wonder why "bicubic" image filter inside #blender is exactly like that. And that led into a rabbit hole of trying to figure out what apps mean by "cubic"/"bicubic", and of course everyone means a different thing.
