My design philosophy for — it should be intuitive for beginners but have infinite depth for advanced users.

Mona 6.3 is now available on the App Store, with a new Explore tab that let you explore trending posts, news, people suggestions, and local/remote/federated timelines on your own server and other Mastodon servers.
Also, you can now add multiple following people or followers to your lists at once, unfollow multiple people at once, and remove people from your follower list.

Uninstalled the snap of #htop in #Ubuntu, then installed it straight from #apt.

Now I can't run it. sudo snap remove htop doesn't work either. Says it's already uninstalled.

Getting tired of having to google forums to fix problems for even the simplest thing in #Linux.

Ok, hear me out - OS-LYMPICS. Let's take #Mac, #Windows and #Linux, and identify a number of operational concepts - efficiency, security, breadth of app base, hardware compatibility, literally anything else. Elect guru squads - MacOS team, Linux team, and.. me. A podcast, or a twitch session, or something. And then each team "competes" to show off the capabilities of their OS versus each operational concept so that otherwise clueless people can get a fucking clue. HOW FUN, amirite?

@Mollarom That's a question to which I want to post one of my usual encyclopedic responses. But I'll try my best to be brief (looks like this reply will split into 4 entries despite that, thanks to mastodon.social and it's inane 500-char post limit).

There are systems out there that purport to help you arrange your life and digital data - I have my own method which works for me, but a lot of people like Thiago Forte's #PARA method, or the "Johnny Decimal" system. You ...1/4

might like to look into either of those wrt to "building a second brain". On the actual software side, the darlings of note-taking seem to be split into 2 1/2 camps. Either #obsidian (page-based knowledge - my personal preference), #logseq (block-based knowledge) or #orgmode, which I'm assigning the 1/2 to as I don't know much about it, not as many people seem into it and (to me) it's complicated and non-intuitive to start off with. Obsidian has a tree structure on the left, works ...2/4

(Edit: kidding, of course. I own three Hisense TVs and multiple windows boxes and none of them are experiencing any issues whatsoever.)

Edit2: followed the process anyway. I had about 50 dafuqpnp entries, elevated RegistryWorkshop as SYSTEM user, deleted all of them in a couple of clicks just for the heck of it. Sure won’t stop me recommending Hisense TVs.

I'm curious who else got a DM from a certain Fediverse account that lists different instances for people to get information about? Specifically asking about a DM telling you that to continue to be listed on their site, your instance is required to defederate from a certain other platform that is owned by Meta.

If you got a DM from them and care to share that information, that would be great.

@spinningthoughts Thanks. Yep, figured it out about 10 mins after posting that, despite Google not being any help at all. "Navigation mode" is the term. I clicked outside the text and was like g h constantly and nothing. Then I learned you can press esc while typing and get into this diff mode. g h again did absolutely nothing. Until I realised that Go Home took me to where I was already and that's why it "did nothing". Look at #Logseq trying to be #vi. Huh. Thanks again though!

Like for real, I don’t care about Gates, Torvalds or Eich or any of them or what they want or believe in. if an app or OS can do something then I just use it. Completely agnostic stance. This kumbayah solidarity thing is so teenagery and gang-bangeresque. #smh
