I truly enjoy watching the videos of Al Bladez on YouTube.

The job he does is amazing and it will teach you a lot on how to fix a yard.

I just wish he would partner with a compost facility for the yard waste.

If I happen to meet the dude I'll get him a case of beer.

@edwiebe A plant turns carbon into oxygen and simple sugars that is what photosynthesis does for us. This is why they regulate our climate.

I had a small bin with a colony of Eisenia foetida in it, and I had some woodchips with some chicken poop in, primo worm food. So I took a bucket and layered the worm soil and woodchips in it about 2/3 full and covered it with 4cm of loose leaf litter. Presto! With just a modicum of attention the worms will produce the finest of soils and more worms quietly and unassumingly. They are as gentle as the rain and as relentless as the Terminator.

@carapace The amount of food waste they process is amazing it is worth giving them a safe house. Lately, I was able to make an avocado seed germinate in my bin. The tree is growing and very healthy.

It is possible to #compost in buckets.

For this make sure you have:

  • 1/3 of browns
  • 1/3 of greens or food scraps
  • 1/3 of soil or compost

Put the browns in the bottom of the bucket it will collect the juices. Then layer the greens chopped finely. Then layer the soil. On top of the soil add a mulch of browns.

It will be ready in 6 months. Don't put a lid keep the bucket in a dry place. Water lightly.

Here it is about to be the time of the year when you start a leaf mold pile.

Worm casting is one of the best activators for those piles and will help the pile break down faster.

The reason why you want leaf mold is that mixed with worm casting it will give you the best homemade potting mix.

I would use this pile on the landscape to mulch trees or shrubs.
