@heathborders It was the same for me when I visited Seattle for work. I hope you can at least get in some views and tasty food. I think you’d like these 2.
Listened to this podcast about MTV recently and recommend! Very nostalgic, brings up a lot of thoughts and feels about media and culture in today's day & age ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ https://pca.st/wul8qbau
Is there zero risk of COVID? That will not be true anytime soon. It is still important to do self tests if you feel you have symptoms and mask up when you feel you are in an environment with greater risk of exposure. Personally I feel every environment I have been in over the past year has been relatively safe and I have not been aware of any outbreaks in my vicinity. But I continue to watch out for signs. #COVID
@heathborders I never got it either. I was pretty isolated and wore a mask during those many months it was recommended and required in public areas. But it has been a long time that has been required here.
Is this for real? Did Elon just lay off #Tesla’s entire Supercharger business division?
“Rebecca Tinucci, senior director of the electric vehicle maker's Supercharger business, and Daniel Ho, head of the new vehicles program, will leave on Tuesday morning, the report said.
Musk also plans to dismiss everyone working for Tinucci and Ho, including the roughly 500 employees who work in the Supercharger group, The Information said. It was not clear how many employees worked for Ho.”
The Supercharger system is probably Tesla’s most beloved and successful product. What is going on?
“Musk lays off Tesla senior executives in fresh job cuts, The Information reports”
@drahardja Saving costs by ending investments in what brings in recurring revenue daily. The dude is a genius. Perhaps Rivian and others will snap up these former Tesla employees to build out alternative charging networks.
@bens@dimsumthinking Mitch Hedberg had the best one liners. “I have not slept for 7 days (brief pause) because that would be too long.” I can see him having a take on a lookup history for socks.
@RememberUsAlways@joshuaphilll There already was a trial. The International Criminal Court case against Israel was focused on genocide and has ordered Israel to prevent and punish incitement of genocide as well as provide humanitarian aid. Then Israel hunted down and killed 7 aid workers from World Central Kitchen on April 1st. Investigations into Israeli actions are ongoing. There will be consequences for Israel for these war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Target.com is a security risk. Someone used my email to create an account so I got emails about it. I suspect if I ever use my email with Target this other person could remain signed in and abuse this access. It did not confirm the email when the account was created and once I reset the password I could not delete the account. I reached out to Abuse@target.com and the reply directed me to a form which requires me to give up a lot of personal details. I am not going to to do that. So I reported an incident to CISA instead. Target should be doing better than this, especially in 2024. #security#phishing#target
@NeoNacho@drahardja I am at Atlas coffee shop in the Mission and they do a comedy show from the sidewalk weekly. One of the comedians pointed out that it is 4/20 which is also Hitler’s birthday. I did not know that!
@icanzilb@NeoNacho@drahardja I was inside the cafe working on something, so I missed most of it. A lot seemed like shock humor, not so much clever or witty. I did hear some big laughs from the crowd occasionally.
@NeoNacho@icanzilb@drahardja lolz! There is definitely the shock humor which just stirs the pot. I appreciate the ones which make commentary which is funny and also sparks intelligent conversation. What I was hearing was not this type of material.
Women Who Code is closing down. They deserve kudos for everything they achieved in 10 years.
I don’t say like to talk about this much anymore, but it is wearing to work in an industry so lopsidedly male-dominated. It makes me really sad that one of the few organizations working to change that is going away.
@jean Do you know of any organizations or programs which could step up to make up for this loss? I feel I am lucky because half the software engineers that I work with directly are women and it is pretty normal in our work environment. It has not become the norm in many places though. There’s still so much progress to make.
My grandmother passed away today. I feel so privileged to have known her, and for my children – her great-grandchildren! – to have known her too. 98 is a fantastic age, and I’ll always remember her love and kindness ❤️
@NeoNacho@heathborders That must happen away from the roads I use. So far I have not seen it myself, but I do see Waymo cars often. I also rarely experience congestion fortunately. I have seen a couple news stories showing some of the Waymo clustering though.
