OpenAI closed the deal with Apple, the next Siri will probably be powered by OpenAI. Not a coincidence i think the deal was closed before the pressconference from OpenAI today about it's product updates.

iPad: Für mich seit einigen Jahren keine Notwendigkeit mehr. Mir genügt die Kombination von Macbook Air mit M1-Chip und iPhone 13 Pro vollkommen. Amazing to me that it took 3 wks of ChatGPT to convince Apple that Siri was "antiquated".
Whole bunch of folks have been screaming this from the rooftops for years. 😐
I’m glad Apple isn’t going to foist another LLM like ChatGPT or Claude on the world. Using machine learning for small specific tasks and increasing the number of ML-enhanced tasks until there is nothing left to enhance is a better way to go.
If I want an LLM I’ll use Claude, or ChatGPT.

Od dawna mam niby nieprzeczytane wiadomości na telefonie. Niby, bo gdy włączę wyświetlanie tylko nieprzeczytanych to mam pustą listę. Jakoś mi to szczególnie nie przeszkadzało, ale trzeba coś z tym w końcu zrobić.
Pierwsza z brzegu porada to „zainstaluj nasz super zajefajny program“, za pomocą którego możesz (możemy ;-)) zrobić cuda ze swoim (twoim) telefonem. Hehe. 🙈😈

Weird how #Siri works. I say "Go Daddy", and Siri types "GoDaddy," then changes it to "Gaddy." Obviously, because statistically, it's more likely I said "Gaddy." 🙄

I just asked Siri to turn off the lights in the laundry room, and Siri turned off the lights in my office. I could understand confusing laundry room for living room or something, but the "office" is named just office and has no "room" in it. This has been happening for months now and I don't get why it's still not fixed. I'm nervous for iOS 18's potential to introduce even more HomeKit bugs.

Anyway I found workaround.
I now say "Siri, set chandalier to 100%" and win rate is much higher. (1/2)

I have some Shortcuts automations on iOS that speak text, and sometimes the voice is very quiet, and sometimes it shouts at me at full volume, and adjusting the device volume has no effect on it. Well, #TIL you can tell Siri, “Set your volume to 40” (the number is a percentage of the max volume), and that affects the automation speech level. Problem solved!
A friend suggested going for a walk. On my way out, I told Siri: “send Steve a message”.
It asked if I meant
— Steve [who’d texted me 10 minutes ago & lives in town]?
— or Steve [in the Bailiwick of Jersey who worked for a client 10 years ago (who I had to look up because I didn’t recognize his last name)]?
Weirder? I’ve another friend in this tiny province named Stephen who, by pure coincidence, has the same last name as Steve.
One of the most underrated feature enhancements to #iOS and #iPhone is how #Siri now reads out descriptions of images when receiving a text with AirPods in. Absolutely love using an #LLM internally developed and super awesome! #Apple
