So my manifesto was about

> take dependencies only on components with longer planning horizons than you

Chasing trends can get you "tool-stranded" — the thing you're depending on goes away (probably because it's no longer the apple of some executive's eye).

Depending on a hot new toolset is asking for trouble (old man yells at clouds); you're better off using tools that were stable 15 years ago

This is not ONLY about "generative AI" but it is not NOT about generative AI.

my first surprise (shock?) when i got into the professional game industry spaces was that the higher up the chain of command you go (leadership) the more rare it was to find people that actually played, made, or really cared about games. still think about it sometimes.

@alienmelon this is true for every industry. Higher ups are there to bring profit for shareholders. Actual interest in the matter is not necessary for them.

@alienmelon I suspect this happens in almost all the industries focused in the money of tons of little consumers. It happens in the field I work in too. Leadership roles are ocuppied by specialists in economics or law and things like that, nothing to see with the final product they want people to buy, and you'll never see them using it.
