@alienmelon Hi, I am currently working on an adult game that uses trivia as it's primary mechanic.
In order to boost queer devs I want to have a category of "queer games trivia" because my hope is that it'll force players to look up queer indies so that they can "win".
By doing this I hope they will find a new dev that they like or at least make them more familiar with the scene.
I do not want to make anyone uncomfortable by featuring their works in an adult game.
@taylormccue lol omg i love it! 😂 the one where it “started out as a pitch for a cartoon” makes this sound tricky like the post it notes are such an unassuming option tucked in there.
i’ve had my browser homepage set to this for a while and think i should share it because it’s so beautiful and endearing https://demos.littleworkshop.fr/infinitown
a procedural infinite city. it’s like looking at a goldfish bowl but the tiny town version ❤️🏡🚕
when only big rich corporations can afford recognition for their work
😅😣💰💀
(representation, support, opportunity, all the good things needed to thrive… for people without money, a big team, or that are just solo sure is hard when $$$ is one of the biggest gatekeepers)
the only way to get into a prestigious place like this is if you gun for a less popular category but it’s still an insanely pricey gamble that you gotta really believe in to take (like that you might have a good chance). in this case it’s a big nope for me.
reminder that if you’ve played my games (more or less getting added to Steam) leave a review so you can balance out weirdo’s like this (this one’s for “everything is going to be ok”)…
lots to unpack here. don’t psychoanalyze the dev please. it’s creepy and presumptuous. 🤢😵💫
@aetataureate i’m sorry too when anyone has to see stuff like this directed at their art. imo it’s a total lack of boundaries toward artists. like just because someone releases something artistically personal is not an invitation to go such extra lengths to project assumptions about them.
i don’t think it’s fully set in yet how huge this is 🤯 i’ve been renting my entire life. family never owned home. together we finally made this work and now… we have a place??? it’s forever? for real!? omg 😭🥹
my first surprise (shock?) when i got into the professional game industry spaces was that the higher up the chain of command you go (leadership) the more rare it was to find people that actually played, made, or really cared about games. still think about it sometimes.
@Langhamian lmao they came from EA so i guess you’re kinda right 🤣 i have theories about how people like that are bad energy for studios because their ego manages to ruin everything like it’s a hidden talent. if you work in an industry you should love the medium. imo it’s probably a bad sign if you don’t.
@Cheeseness it is! it’s kinda humiliating (toxic, etc…) because there’s an air of being better than the people making the thing AND the fans that want to play it. you should care and respect the thing if you’re here. the idea that it’s just a cash cow to milk caused so much harm.
