It would be terrible if some folks attending the WWDC keynote on Monday wore red, black, green and white clothing with all those cameras pointing into the audience.

Make sure you get those WWDC wishlists in by 11:59 P.M. on June 9th so we have enough time to build everything in time for the Keynote the next morning

Introducing Adjustable!

Adjustable is a property wrapper that I built to aid in adjusting values at runtime instead of constantly waiting for Xcode to rebuild and launch after changing a constant.

Simply annotate any value with @adjustable@mastodon.social(0.0...1.0) with any supported range, and you'll automatically get a UISlider onscreen to adjust values.

This is perfect for adjusting interactions (e.g. springs) or layouts in real-time, so you can make apps feel great.

Real talk, whenever you talk to GOP-voting relatives or “friends” now relentlessly drive home that they’re supporting a convicted criminal.

Literally say in every sentence that they’re supporting a convicted felon to drive that spike home into their brains.

Aryeh Neier (who escaped Nazi Germany and later cofounding Human Rights Watch) on why he believes Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza.

I personally don't use the word genocide, but I respect those who do and I believe what they are saying is critical. Please watch and share widely.

At this point the conclusion is inescapable that the IDF repeatedly has “mishaps” resulting in the sudden violent death of dozens of Gaza civilians because they have zero interest in avoiding the sudden violent deaths of dozens of Gaza civilians.

No argument can stop Israel’s bloodthirsty leaders. The only thing I can think of is to re-run the BDS/boycott playbook that was deployed against South Africa. Start with the Olympics?

@Migueldeicaza That’s a pretty good example of what’s wrong with many startups. It’s not a bank, but hands out debit cards to kids. Then it conflates this with also handling phone contracts and to top it off, it tries to sell you investments that don’t tell you what they are, but with asterisks saying “investing carries risk, we might lose your money, but hey, invest for your children!”

This doesn’t solve a single thing I’ve ever encountered as a father of three which wasn’t solved already.

One thing that I still appreciate about X over mastodon is that I actually learn about real events going on. Like the fact that they're now bombing literal tents in Rafah.

I am not paid for this or have any interest in this company

We give our kids debit cards using tillfinancial.com - we give their allowance there, and they get debit cards and Apple Pay integration

    Zero fees, or hidden shenanigans.

    Love it.

Ok, I’m sorry, I’m going to ruffle feathers here but… I’m trying to read some newer development process books and… oh my… even super popular ones are so immensely long winded and unconvincing in their dogmatic argumentation: this is bad, this is good, because I said so that’s why.

Recent examples that I’m struggling to finish: “Team Topologies” and “Data Mesh” - I mean they might be great but I’m getting strong “this should’ve been a blogpost” feels.

    Patricia,

This book is made for cherry picking quotes to support whatever you want. Just make sure no one else can be bothered to read it.

    Patricia,
    @Patricia@vivaldi.net avatar

I think maybe there isn’t a single thought that anyone has ever written about in tech that they haven’t taken into this book. But the only times they make logical sense is when they’re literally quoting other people’s text.

Got a great question about keeping some code compatible with complete checking both off and on. It is hitting a very tricky case involving a compiler bug with default values. Here's a little explaination along with a possible solution.

A nonisolated init is one of those things that just keeps coming up as a useful trick.
