My non-blindness physical disabilities are worsening and I have realized after an antenna incident over the weekend that I can no longer maintain my station all by myself. If anyone out here is a op in the West Valley of the area in I'd really appreciate a DM if you're interested in helping. I'd really like to keep my station on the air. Thanks and 73.

@darrell73 Not me personally, but a coworker soon to retire fits this bill, though in the east valley if I recall. I will ask tomorrow.

Two headlines, one truth. #BasicIncome works. Those who want to ban experiments know the results will be positive. That's why they want to ban them.

They are scared. They are scared of a future where they wield less power over others, where freedom is real instead of just a marketing slogan.

My friends say:
"Too much info is already out there abt jurors.
Someone will be visiting a juror or 6.
With a big bag o’ money. And a drill."

THEY AREN'T ANONYMOUS ENOUGH!
I don't think THE MEDIA OR THE court system gets just how dangerous Trump's followers are.
Trump intimidated a jury member in court.
The MAGAts will find them & intimidation them FOR Trump OUTSIDE the court.

MAGA WILL THREATEN liberal jurors, not MAGA jurors. (COMPARE threats to Judge Engoron vs THREATS to Judge Cannon)

Archnemysis,

@spocko wow! That is a lot of detailed information that doesn’t seem remotely relevant to the court or public.

Elon Musk’s X tried and failed to make its own copyright system, judge says

Judge rules copyright law governs public data scraping, not X’s terms.

@arstechnica If I was Stack Overflow I would be very worried about what this ruling means: "X Corp. wants it both ways: to keep its safe harbors yet exercise a copyright owner’s right to exclude, wresting fees from those who wish to extract and copy X users’ content," Alsup wrote.

If Stack Overflow wants to argue their terms of service override the copyright ownership of their users, then they better get ready to say goodbye to Section 230 protections.

@evan Didn’t vote as I am no where near informed enough to offer an opinion about a specific technology.

To me, the question is: Which of these should AP servers prioritize when choosing a storage method for media: Cost minimizing for hosters, resiliency of media availability, ability to eliminate illegal content I.e CSAM (host ability to delete), right to forget (poster ability to delete).

I suspect there is no technology that prioritizes all of those things.

Only big pharma can get away with charging the same price for twice the product, proving the price has nothing to do with the cost of the product anyway. We’re all such suckers.

Archnemysis,
@Archnemysis@mastodon.social avatar

@shoq the only way this would make sense is if the filler cost just as much as the active ingredient. In which case, burn the whole system down because that price per bottle is outrageous.

#Momocrats @Karoli @socalmom @AlizaWrites

the theory I read for why #Durbin isn’t holding hearings on our corrupt and compromised #SCOTUS is that the Senate Dems want to confirm as many judges as possible before the election/inauguration.

Seems plausible, BUT I also think people can walk and chew gum at the same time. He should get off the pot.

Archnemysis,
@Archnemysis@mastodon.social avatar

@Tengrain @Karoli @socalmom @AlizaWrites If this theory is correct, then Durbin may know he would lose the votes he needs for nominations if he proceeds with investigations. While these nomination votes often end up being wildly lopsided, they don’t start off that way. Only once it becomes obvious a candidate is going to be confirmed does it get brought to the floor and the opposition evaporates.

There is still something weird about Threads. The most insipid accounts get thousands of followers, and the most vapid posts get as much traction as they did on Twitter. I can’t get any traction there at all. The most pedestrian stuff I post here, Sky, or even on Twitter can get at least a respectable response. On Threads, almost nothing. Nada. Zip.

Archnemysis,

@shoq yeah, the algorithm knows your “just political” and is going to bury your content, even to your own followers. Threads is designed to be vapid and is very successful at it.

Chris Hayes is recounting the shabby history of Abe Fortas, the SCOTUS justice who resigned in disgrace after it was revealed that he took $20,000 from a rich dude in legal trouble. It’s quaint by today’s blatantly corrupt SCOTUS standards.

Of course, he was a liberal, so uh, yeah.

@Green_Footballs what’s most infuriating, there aren’t even calls from top electeds for Thomas to resign, just recuse.

@jeffjarvis While I agree with them in the short term, I wonder about the long. Suppose a well-funded activist group willfully disrupts multiple campuses for days, weeks, or months? Where is the line? This is not an academic question, as it may be the plan.

Archnemysis,
@Archnemysis@mastodon.social avatar

@shoq @Lady_Thistle @jeffjarvis I think the word “disrupts” here is too soft to be useful. Getting closer with “destructive disruption” but that still leaves plenty of room to excuse the in group while banning the out group. If you are keeping me from getting to class and exercising my academic freedom, then you have crossed the line. But merely making me uncomfortable while I am on my way to class? Too bad for me. Honestly, I would’ve thought we knew where the line was by this point.

Steve Garvey’s problem in the CA Senate debate is that the Republicans are MAGA, and independents are NOT.

This forces Garvey to avoid taking positions. He’s damned no matter what.

Wild Card: CA has a jungle primary and the result will probably be the Garvey will not make the top 2. So in the General Election it will be Schiff against Porter.

That’s where you put your wager. Garvey is not even a player.
