As Passover begins, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is once again using the bible to justify genocide in Gaza as he compares Hamas to "Pharaoh" and promises to "land additional and painful plagues" upon the Palestinians.

Corpses are found after the IDF troops leave Khan Younis, and they have nothing to do with Israel? What other explanation do you have for a mass grave?

Alexandrad1,

@finche @Miro_Collas @palestine

a) Seriously, do you think that 190 dead Israelis in Gaza would not cause an international stir, given how the deaths of Oct. 7th were, and are still, treated by the media? This is false ingenuity.
b) the soldiers take the time to summarily execute women and elderly people, and then, they pile the bodies in a mass grave.
c) Gaza is not a state, it was a concentration camp, under control of Israel, guarded by automatic weapons.

70,000 kilos of explosives (twice Hiroshima and Nagazaki combined), the assistance of big countries, and after 6 months, Israel has still not achieved its military goal. But the #genocide is going well.

/ Israeli airstrike on Gaza kills seven working for food aid NGO

Hearing about the Israeli airstrike on Gaza which killed seven working for food aid NGO , I was reminded immediately of Meron Rapoport’s post about how Israel is sabotaging aid efforts. See Israel's Policy of Calculated Disorder in Gaza https://kolektiva.social/@oatmeal/112133541637687094.

There’s nothing much to add. At this point it does seem Israel is doing its best to sow chaos by killing foreign aid workers; as well as locals it agreed could assist in securing the deliveries.

[…] "This is not only an attack against , this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war," said Erin Gore, chief executive of World Central Kitchen.

No, that's not what the resolution says. The UN demanded an immediate ceasefire (Israel has killed over 100 people since) and demanded the release of the hostages. The two demands are not conditional upon one another and this resolution is binding.

See for yourself:
https://www.thenationalnews.com/world/2024/03/25/full-text-of-the-un-security-council-resolution-on-gaza-ceasefire/

Alexandrad1,

@RememberUsAlways @mondoweiss @palestine @israel

As I said, the resolution is binding (Article 25 of the Charter ), but it doesn't seem to matter to Israel, who has the record of violating UN resolutions (when they succeed in passing the US veto).
So, what do you expect the UN to do? 🤷

https://www.haaretz.com/2002-10-10/ty-article/study-israel-leads-in-ignoring-security-council-resolutions/0000017f-db7d-d3ff-a7ff-fbfd800b0000

Yes. As long as the guard dog of Israel has the power to sink all attempts of the UN to advocate International Law, the UN will fail. Same causes produce the same results.

    I get a lot of debate from the #French in my life about how I support women wearing the #Hijab 🧕 (especially with the court of appeal ruling yesterday in #Québec) and how I square that with my feminism— and forgive my confusion but at the the very heart of feminism is acknowledging that women are fully formed & capable adults that are entitled to wear what they please. Not treating women like grown-ups is how American women lost their bodily autonomy.

    Alexandrad1,

    @LALegault
    Yes, there is this same debate in France where «feminists» like Elizabeth Badinter oppose the hijab, because they see it as a sign of religious oppression. So they prone a law to forbid it, making them the equivalent of those who pass laws to enforce the use of it. It's veiled (pun intended) islamophobia.

    No laws to dictate what a woman can or cannot wear, that's the true feminism, in my opinion.

    I watched some of them and got the impression that the Western countries (US, UK, France, colonist thieves countries) said to the ICJ, in short, "look the other way", while the South (Colombia, Namibia, South Africa, former colonized countries) said to the ICJ "apply the law".
    Would you agree?

    Alexandrad1, to Palestine

    Thank you Namibia.

    In short, in these proceedings, I have noted that

    • the Western countries (France, US, UK) say to the International Court of Justice: «Look the other way.»
    • the South (Namibia, South Africa) say to the International Court of Justice: «Apply International Law.»

    Which is logical, since the first are the colonialist thieves, and the second know what it means to be stolen and trampled.

    "What makes the starvation campaign worse, [...] is that people in Gaza are facing these conditions while Israel is forcing them into increasingly small areas and has removed access to supplies needed for basic hygiene. This has created conditions for disease to spread extremely rapidly among Palestinians in Gaza, especially as their immune systems are already weakened by malnourishment."

    @Kirilov @gimulnautti @KarunaX @ymishory @appassionato @bookstodon @palestine
    If they did, you could easily demonstrate it, since it's logic, instead of just claiming there is a logical fallacy.
    Karuna said he expected a rigorous work, because the author is known to produce rigorous work. That's perfect logic.

    Alexandrad1,

    @Kirilov @argumento @gimulnautti @KarunaX @ymishory @appassionato @bookstodon @palestine
    Yes, and saying you expect a rigorous work from an historian with good academic credentials is not a logical fallacy.
    If we followed your logic, we should discard all opinions coming from experts renowned in their particular field, because that would be an appeal to authority.
    Basing one's assessment on solid work is not the same as citing a public figure with no expert knowledge on the issue.

    @Kirilov @argumento @gimulnautti @KarunaX @ymishory @appassionato @bookstodon @palestine

    You implore me, I comply. The link you provided say the same thing I just told you, the logical fallacy you mention consists in appealing to people with no expert knowledge on the issue, and therefore does not apply to this particular case, as I keep telling you, since Khalidi is a qualified expert.
