Plex + PlexAmp is REALLY good. Like super good. I used it all day today and its DJ feature kept the mood going for an entire work day with all my own music. Impressive.

But… no discoverability, no Apple Watch support, and no way to cross-sync metadata (plays, skips, ratings) to iTunes.

I want to love it. So want to love it. But I can’t figure out how to fix these final small hurdles. I’ve had a complete iTunes library since 2004 and that metadata remaining up to date is integral to me.

Just had a nice chat with a new EV owner while DC fast charging. Let me count how the dealership failed him:

  1. Took delivery of BMW IX on Friday and knew zero about how to use public charging.

  2. Didn’t have the EA free charging promo activated on his account. This session was coming out of his own pocket.

  3. Was told to never let the battery get below 20%.

  4. Was told to never charge past 80% (while a good rule of thumb, “never” is incorrect). (1/2)

@liztai Basically aside from the rules in the constitution, nothing else disqualifies someone from running or winning. It’s bizarre. So, yes, he theoretically could win, be in jail serving his sentence, and still retain the job.

@liztai I mean, he realistically won’t get jail time for this one. Likely a ton of fines and probation of some sort.

My understanding of the lack of many constitutional requirement’s is the founders didn’t want to make it too restrictive and leave a lot of unanswered questions. So there’s 3-4 qualifiers and that’s that. I’m sure they never thought America would be stupid enough to be in this position ever.

Right now it just feels odd, esp for someone who enjoys taking companies to task for BS.

@Newmy @ernie Definitely an issue to jump and lock into a different single platform like Apple. It’s almost like we have to break apart from the idea of “everything in one place”. This makes the ability to migrate easier.

I'm still using Google for email, occasional drive / docs, and a legacy Gsuite for my personal server. I want to want to like Nextcloud as a replacement for the rest, but it's impossible. I’ll likely migrate to Proton for the remainder.

For photos, have you consdiered a Synology or using SmugMug / new Flickr? Just curious.

Having a server helps with stuff but adds complexity too. Sometimes I just don't want to tinker. (2/2)

Search: I've had DDG as my default for ~8 years and works great for me.
Photos: I've always used iPhoto, so I went all in w/ iCloud Photo Library. My server keeps a local copy at all times. (1/2)

I created a Smart Playlist to easily identify songs I want to outright buy.

The playlist name I’ve given it? Rules of Acquisition. :startrek:

For the curious: These are songs in Apple’s Music app that shows Apple Music songs I’ve added to my library, with >10 plays, and is either rated >2 stars or I marked as a favorite.
