Black Flag – "Six Pack" (1981)
7" 45 RPM
Original SST pressing with black & white cover
This class punk anthem reminds me of the initial appeal I found in punk rock and underground music in general. Savage mockery of the worst parts of popular American culture, as it was at the time anyway.
Angry outsiders. The innately anti-authoritarian. These are my people!
Released 43 years ago this month, as @historyofpunkrock noted recently 👊
Pailhead – “Don't Stand In Line” EP (1988)
7", 45 RPM on Wax Trax! Records
One of the more interesting collaborations, featuring Ian MacKaye, Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen, Ministry bassist Paul Barker, and drummer Eric Spicer from Naked Raygun.
Hey folks! I’ve been radio silent the past few weeks for starting a brew job and vacation! However 3, 2, 1… Let’s Jam round two! #vinylalphabet with the Cowboy Bebop Netflix Series by Yoko Kano and The Seatbelts. I couldn’t pass up new recordings of these songs. So good! #animesoundtrack#anime#vinylrecords
From 60s R&B funk to sludge metal in the mid-2010s, a couple of 45s from classic New Orleans bands, The Meters and Eyehategod. Picked up at local NOLA recod shop, Sisters In Christ, along with a fun tote.
Campoli Plays Paganini-Kreisler, Saint-Saëns (LSO, cond. Gamba) (1959)
When I'm not listening to reissues of 1970s soul jazz, I'm geeking over old London Decca classical records. This one was a thrift store find yesterday.
Various – More Coffee For The Politicians (Phoenix Underground Music Compilation #3)
Placebo Records, 1985
Regionally focused comps were super helpful back before the internet. Best way to focus on a specific scene.
This one has a nice variety of musical styles. It's #3 in a series from Placebo spotlighting the Phoenix Scene (e.g. "This Is Phoenix, Not The Circle Jerks" and "Amuck").
There's a white paper insert with some Placebo Records and their respective prices listed. It's an order form you'd mail in.
GARY NUMAN
The Pleasure Principle
1979 Canada pressing
Once I finished listening to the John Foxx record, I had to put this on.
Gary & John are two artists that are forever entwined for me.
The Pleasure Principle is one of the greatest albums of all time, regardless of genre or era, and NO I did not stutter.
Without Gary (and John as well), it’s hard to imagine a world that has Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, or Depeche Mode.
Just a legendary artist. #vinyl#vinylrecords#synth#newwave#synthpop
Some more #RobinTrower - not as well known as Bridge of Sighs but still amazing. I can’t beleive I hadn’t heard of this guy before sometime in the last year…I have a lot of stuff to catch up on. Pretty sure I got this record from a dollar bin, and it’s in great shape. A good vacuum cleaning helped for sure.
Stanley Turrentine and The Three Sounds - "Blue Hour" (1961)
One of the crown jewels of the #BlueNote catalog has been reissued. I love my mono original of this, scratches and all, but this new stereo reissue is terrific. Ideal rainy day music.
Sun City Girls – “Sun City Girls” (1984)
First run pressing of 1000 copies on Placebo Records
Desert landscapes, weather, people, and culture are so unique. One of the quietest places on Earth, deserts tend to produce a lot of introspection. I assume this is why some of the weirdest and most creative art, particularly music, comes out of such regions.
I could never keep up with all the output from the Sun City Girls and the two brothers that constituted its core. But that’s ok. Their first two albums are so good, with both music and silly, clever lyrics.
THE WAR ON DRUGS
Lost In The Dream
2014 2xLP Worldwide pressing
Some outstanding early Thursday morning vibes with this one.
One of the greatest compliments you can pay ANY band is that you know it’s THEM when you hear them.
I still feel that this is their most fully realized record. Everything they do exceptionally well is on display here, and Adam Granduciel’s songwriting is at its apex.
Just stellar.
If you ever get a chance to see them live, do so.
Phenomenal. #vinyl#vinylrecords
I don't know where that cover comes from. However I like it, since it means to me: that's how I feel when finally get any record I look for decades, especially the Japanese and Chinese music from the 1980's. #VinylRecords#VinylCollector#VinylLover#MusicLover
I had an online friend who helped me to find some music and send to me.
Back in 2012 an 10" vinyl record was released under the price of $10USD or less. I asked her to buy it for me. Days later she told me she got the record and we planned to pay and then send it to me.
Suddenly she disappeared from all the Internet sites, I don't know why.
Now, that vinyl record can be found at the price from $75 to $120USD.
How I hate this so much... #VinylCollector#VinylRecords#Vinyl#MusicLover
