#OnMyWalk to a fabulous cascade of #Wisteria! My kind neighbor Ken & his friyJavi & dog Keanu helped me get a good shot. Thanks Ken! #BeKind#StaySafe#ReachOut#MaskUp Sending Love To You All 💗🌷💜🥳💗🎉💜🦋💗🌷💜🥳💗🎉👍🦋💗🌷💜🥳💗🎉💜🦋
You remember a couple of months ago, when I reported that #COVID19 had killed 1600 Americans in the preceding week? (And a bunch of anti-vaxxers lost their minds in the comments?)
And then about a month ago, it was 2000/week?
Well, last week, #Covid killed 3397 Americans. Call it basically 3400. Up from only 2563 the week before.
✅ If you have Covid, you can
get it again, & are more likely to as well as get other illnesses. Covid damages your immune system. So again, mask with an N95 or better once you stop quarantining/go back to work or grocery store.
✅ It can stay in the air for hours (aerosol). It doesn't just go 6 ft & fall to the ground (droplets) like they originally warned against.
✅ If you're testing neg(-) but have symptoms, make sure to swab both nose, cheek & throat. It's best to test 3 days after possible exposure or the 1st day of symptoms. THEN test again 48 hrs later & a third time 48 hrs after that...
✅ If you test pos(+), know that you should consider yourself contagious until you test neg(-) & then test neg(-) again 48 hrs later
✅ Also know that the CDC's recommendation to go back to work after 5 days was recommended in a letter from the CEO of Delta Airlines (a copy is on Delta's website). It was a BUSINESS decision not a scientific one...
✅ If you have just tested pos(+) & others who live in your household are still neg(-) (or the other way around) it's possible for the non-infected to stay that way! First step: everyone mask with N95 or better. The are more steps if anyone is interested...
Two strains dominate, more are around. More people dying. More people becoming #disabled. More people with damaged blood vessels, brains, hearts... More people slipping suddenly into dementia. More young "healthy" people unable to explain why they always seem to be sick these days.
Two of our regular visitors to our community project are currently in hospital with covid or post covid problems. One picked it up on a flight to visit relatives and is on oxygen in hospital in South Africa. The other almost certainly caught it when using public transport in London. He was very limp and feeble and couldn't keep food or drink down after initial symptoms passed and he is currently on dialysis as kidney function dropped to 2%. Infuriating that government are no longer even mentioning covid but it's absolutely rife and people aren't testing as the home test kits are no longer free. #Covid#StaySafe
Prior to catching Covid I was generally akin to a mountain goat on long hikes. Ascents were never a problem and the prospect of long miles ahead of me filled me with anticipation and the thrill of soon to be discovered new vistas. I'd bash along listening to my favourite tunes while drinking in the views with my eyes. Since Covid I struggle with the miles, the ascents are difficult and off-putting and my left ear is troublesome to the point of frustration with music and cinema. #MaskUp#StaySafe
About 20 years ago I was convinced enough that our societal trend of ignoring scientific and medical advice en mass (read: #JennyMcArthy /#AndrewWakefield / #climateCrisis) would inevitably lead to the resurgence of preventable disease, such as #TB.
I wrote Tom Brokaw Part I and Tom Brokaw Part II to explore these thoughts.
Where as in TBP I the orator can't seem to shake his "sentimental" cough, TBP II finds him perishing in a Tuberculosis wing of a hospital, as friends and family all come to visit unmasked.
It's highly unusual for there to be such a pronounced East/West divide in terms of predicted storm damage. That in itself should make you think that it may be wise to follow directions. #staysafe#Babet
I truly don't know if what I just had was a form of Covid - who does any more given the deliberate lack of reliable information - but I do know I felt shit enough to remember that much more fragile and potentially more susceptible folk are out there being denied the same reliable information by the same agencies who really don't care despite their protestations to the contrary. #MaskUp#StaySafe#CovidIsntOver
BTW #COVID19 delayed my #chemo, so we cancelled our annual Dim Sum shenanigans with friends.
i did go out the other day, but TBH am even more paranoid about any kind of infection, #flu#theCold whatever since ending in the emergency room.
so even though my sons are here, it's been a very #sociallyDistant holiday season since turkey day; but my chosen family understands and that makes me happy.
